The program is currently ranked 10th in HBCUs by several publications and the coaching staff has made it a point to have a recruiting stronghold in the talent-rich state of Virginia. The staff has been extremely active in visiting schools to find talent from all around the state and over the past two weeks, a number of talented athletes from around the state have received offers. Here are some of the talented athletes from the state of Virginia who have received an offer from the Norfolk State coaching staff.
Brayden Walker | 6’2’’ 285 lbs | Offensive Line | Eastern View High School
Walker earned an offer from Norfolk State this past week and would be a valuable pick up for the Spartans. He also has offers from UMass, Delaware State, Emory and Henry, and is receiving interest from Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Old Dominion. The junior lineman was named 2nd Team All Region 4B Defensive Line, and is a two sport athlete. Walker is an impressive shot putter who can throw the shot put 46 feet and 5 inches. However, what is even more impressive is his athleticism as he is also a member of the 4×100 relay team.
Qwenton Spellman Qwenton Spellman 6'2" | 290 lbs | DL Louisa County | 2023 State VA | 6’2’’ 295 lbs | Defensive Line | Louisa County High School
Spellman is the 4th ranked Defensive Lineman in the state and the 24th ranked overall prospect in the state for the Class of 2023. The Louisa County two sport athlete earned 1st Team All Jefferson District Defensive Line and 2nd Team All District Basketball honors this past fall. His dominance and athleticism caught the eyes of the Norfolk State coaching staff and earned him an offer this past week. He also has offers from Towson, Richmond, and Old Dominion.
Kendall Banister | 5’11’’ 180 lbs | Defensive Back | Freedom High School
Banister was another athlete who picked up an offer from the Spartans this past week. He was named 1st Team All District, 1st Team All Region, 2nd team All State last season, and is a recipient of Freedom High School’s Outstanding Character Award . The well decorated Defensive Back also holds offers from Ohio, Miami of Ohio, Maine, Sacred Heart, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, and Eastern Illinois.
Terrell Washington | 6’2’’ 270 lbs | Defensive Line | Heritage High School
Washington picked up an offer from the Norfolk State coaching staff and it looks like he could be a great fit for the Spartans. The 2 sport athlete is not only a top prospect as a Defensive Lineman, but also a steady contributor on the Heritage High basketball team. Washington, who currently holds a 3.0 GPA, is also receiving interest from Louisville and Liberty.
Zachary Dantzlerward | 6’4’’ 295 lbs | Defensive Line | Loudon Valley High School
Dantzlerward is already off to a strong camp season, having earned the Top Performer from the Richmond Linemen Only Series camp. The Loudon Valley Defensive Lineman currently has 15 offers and picked up another last week from the Norfolk coaching staff. Some of the other programs that have offered him are Marshall, Harvard, Navy, Georgetown, Furman, Kent St, Lehigh, Dartmouth, Brown, UPenn, Army, Northwestern State, Towson, Air Force, and Old Dominion.
