With a year of high school experience under their belt, numerous 2025 prospects will soon start to see their recruitment take off on the trail. Here, we take a look at some of the more noteworthy 2025 prospects and how their recruitment has shaken out in the past week.
RB – Donovan Johnson – Calvary Day
After rushing for over 1300 yards in 2021 as a freshman, Johnson quickly became known as one of the premier RB prospects in the 2025 class. After he continued his strong showing on the camp scene earlier this year, he put himself in a position to be one of the most highly sought-after RBs in the entire country. In recent months, Johnson has seen offers roll in from schools like Georgia, Florida, and Louisville. In the last week alone, Johnson has seen his offer list grow to include Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and Pitt. There is plenty of reason to believe there are plenty of more offers set to come his way, so keep an eye on Johnson.
WR – Edward Coleman – Calvary Day
Donovan Johnson isn’t the only elite 2025 prospect out of Calvary Day, as Edward Coleman also finished his 2021 season on a high note. Coleman finished with over 500 AP yards and is in position to have an even bigger 2022 season. Coleman might not have the notoriety on the trail that his teammate does, but his recruitment is starting to take off as he looks to be one of if not the best 2025 WR in Georgia. In the past week, Coleman has picked up offers from 2 ACC schools in Pitt and Virginia Tech. He has also received offers from schools like Florida State and Arkansas and actually visited the Seminoles back in March. Coleman can already be considered an elite prospect, but his recruitment is just beginning.
QB – Antwann Hill Jr – Houston County
Hill might be the standard for QBs in the 2025 class, or at least he has the potential to be. Hill’s starting experience on varsity as a freshman will only help his growth tremendously, but it’s his tools that stand out on the trail. Already standing at 6’5, Hill is one of the most physically gifted athletes in the 2025 class. He is a more pro-style QB with an over-the-top release and can make every throw on the field. Some of the noteworthy offers for Hill include Georgia and Ohio State, and he just added Georgia Southern and Pitt to a long list of offers and interests.
WR – Josiah Abdullah Josiah Abdullah 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Woodward Academy | 2025 State GA – Woodward Academy
Abdullah is one of the fastest and most explosive prospects in the entire state, and he showed that during his freshman season. Abdullah has already picked up offers from schools like Texas and Florida State on top of numerous others, but his recruitment has exploded in the past week. Schools like Texas A&M, Tennessee, West Virginia, Western Kentucky, and Grambling State have extended offers in recent days. With a breakout season on the horizon, Abdullah is set to prove why he is one of the most elite WR prospects in the 2025 class.
OL – Juan Gaston – Westlake
Juan Gatson is just one out of what looks to be a historic 2025 OL class in Georgia. Already at 6’8 350, Gaston is bigger than most NFL offensive linemen and is just a freshman in high school. Entering the last week of April, Gaston already held offers from schools like Texas, Arkansas, and Georgia Tech. Now, that offer list includes NC State, Mississippi State, and UCF. Once Gaston starts to grow into his body and make more plays on the field, he has the potential to be an elite player beyond the high school ranks.
OL – Mason Short Mason Short 6'7" | 280 lbs | OL Evans | 2025 State GA – Evans
As I said earlier, the 2025 OL class in Georgia is historically good, and Mason Short Mason Short 6'7" | 280 lbs | OL Evans | 2025 State GA could be the headliner of that group. In recent months, Short has absolutely exploded on the recruiting trail, picking up offers from schools like Penn State, Ohio State, and Alabama recently. If this past week tells us anything, it’s that his recruitment isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Short added 2 SEC offers from South Carolina and Auburn this week, along with another ACC offer from Georgia Tech. Short is a prospect that you’re going to want to track.
OL – Peyton Joseph Peyton Joseph 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Peach County | 2025 State GA – Peach County
I got a chance to get eyes on Joseph at the MVP Camp this past spring, and he stole the show with his brute strength and physicality. Joseph made headlines later in April by receiving a Georgia offer, and his recruitment has been on a steady growth ever since, adding Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Charlotte to his already impressive offer list. Joseph is a hard-nosed, aggressive football player. For that reason, teams should be lining up for his services.
LB – Jadon Perlotte Jadon Perlotte 6'4" | 215 lbs | LB Buford | 2025 State GA – Buford
SEC schools have lined up for Perlotte, who happens to be one of the most physical players in the 2025 class. Perlotte picked up offers from South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State back in March. Since then, he has added two more SEC offers from Auburn and Kentucky. An offer from Miami also drew some headlines a couple of days ago. Perlotte has been blowing up on the trail, and it should be a fun recruitment to track over the next several years.
