Continue ReadingPrep Redzone was present at this past weekend’s Philly’s Finest 7v7 Tournament of Champions in Coatesville, PA, where some absolutely stellar talent took to the field. Talent came in from everywhere, showing just how far Philly’s Finest has come in the 7v7 circuit. The well-run camp and organization is an annual must for scouts such as myself. Connecticut and New Jersey were represented at the event along with numerous Pennsylvania programs.
In this piece, we will breakdown some new names out of the Philly Playmakers program that caught my eye from Day one.
Rakiem Mills Rakiem Mills 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Frankford | 2023 State PA | 6’0, 190 | WR/DB | 2023
Mills is a player we’ve been fond of for some time. I was thrilled to see him on this elite 7v7 program where he can show off some of his great pass-coverage skills. Mills is a well-built defender who can provide man or zone pass coverage ability from either his linebacker or safety spot. Love his use at linebacker at this event, the young man is adept at being physical while in-phase. Mills, who is currently going through a transfer inside the Philadelphia Public League, can still provide athleticism elsewhere. Mills has the vision and change of direction ability to play running back for any school in the Pub. I hope to see his recruitment begin to heat up in the near future.

Samuel Cooper | RB/CB | Conwell-Egan | 2024
Jaheim Miller | QB/ATH | Olney
Samuel Cooper is a new name to the site. I thought I knew of every weapon Conwell-Egan had to offer, yet somehow this kid has flown under the radar. Excited to add him to the large list of prospects out of CEC, a list that seems to grow by the week. Cut-up, muscular build, Cooper flashed awesome burst and hands despite his running back and defensive back designation. His 7v7 performance showed off his versatility as a prospect who can run, catch and defend, which will align well at Conwell-Egan where so many of their prospects can play both sides of the ball. Very intrigued, he’s a name I’ll keep an eye out for this Fall.
Another entirely new name on the site. Jaheim Miller, who will be playing QB for Olney HS but played some RB at the event, showing he can accelerate and move in the open field. If there is an arm attached to this athlete, Olney is going to have an Public League MVP caliber player behind center. I haven’t seen film on either Miller or Cooper, yet both did enough at this event to be added to my personal watchlist for this Fall.
Del Jackson III | 6’0, 175 | DB | LaSalle College | 2023
On a team loaded with athletes, Del Jackson’s overall performance at cornerback stood out the most. Jackson’s name isn’t a new one to me, but this is the first time I got a chance to see the junior out of LaSalle live in this setting. Awesome consistency throughout the event. Consistent feet, hardly any false steps in coverage and well balanced. I can see the work and attention to detail put in by this young man. Hand usage is a plus, as is his understanding of leverage. Confident player too, was ready for any matchup thrown his way. That’s saying something when considering the overall talent level at this event. This kid is the real deal at DB.
Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA | 6’0, 175 | QB | Upper Dublin | 2023
Colin O’Sullivan is the story of this piece. Not necessarily because of any one throw he made or any stats compiled from this event, more so because of his overall development since last I saw him throw the football. I’m happy to see him throw and excel with this awesome group of athletes. Shows that he is up for the task and can distribute the football with any 7v7 group in the state. O’Sullivan is incredibly poised in everything he does. Poised pre-snap, post-snap/pre-throw, post-throw. Calm and collected, a cerebral player who’s mental processing has taken a considerable notch in the right direction since the Fall. More than anything, I love to see junior quarterbacks who can be trusted to make the right read and deliver an accurate ball. There aren’t many junior quarterbacks I’d trust more than this young man. Glad to see his recruitment take a step in the right direction too.
Great weekend of 7v7 going 6-0 with Playmaker teammates before tough 2pt loss in last minute of chip game. @PaFootballNews @EPAFootball @coachvips @CoachTJD @CoachJasonMiran @CoachPSap @DannyOBrienQB @CoachJohnReagan @UpperDublinFB pic.twitter.com/4D5417IkWi

Staring Reaves Staring Reaves 5'10" | 175 lbs | DB Chichester | 2023 State PA | 5’10, 172 | DB/WR/ATH | Chichester | 2023
Last but not least, I want to shed some light on a prospect who is vastly underrated. We at PRZ know of this young man’s talent with or without pads. The Chichester star was an absolute terror for QBs this past Fall, that notion hasn’t changed a bit as Reaves continues to prove he is one of the more well-rounded defensive backs in his class. Seeing his performance against great competition, and studying his film, there’s no doubt in my mind that Reaves can compete with the best of the best in this state. Happy to see some offensive reps at the event too. Reaves will make money in the future at DB when considering his ball skills and overall awareness.
Had a great weekend at Philly finest!! My qb had me looking great!! @Colin_OSullivan pic.twitter.com/Ny0okyNXtl
