PRZ IL Prospect Tour: Session 2 QB Preview
In this article:
With our PRZ IL Prospect Tour coming up on Saturday, May 7th we’re continuing with our positional previews to provide further exposure to the young student athletes coming out to the showcase. With that being said, we’re kicking this off with a quick preview of some of the QBs that are going to be in attendance. Keep in mind that this is a preview article and a more in-depth article series will come after the showcase is held diving into how the young men performed at the showcase in testing as well as in positional drills and during 1 on 1’s.
Deuce Allaway Deuce Allaway 5'9" | 175 lbs | QB Bishop McNamara | 2023 State IL 2023 Bishop McNamara Twitter
Mr. Allaway is a young man that I actually had the chance to scout in person during the regular season last fall. He’s a dual-threat quarterback whose legs are a legit threat to the defense as he can gain the step advantage and outrun pursuit angles breaking a long run. Last time I scouted this young man he had the advantage working on the move over working in platform being able to flip his hips to add extra velocity when he’s throwing on the move. What I’m interested to see out of this young man during the showcase is his 40 time as he was flying against the defenders during the game I scouted him in. One other area I’m interested to see is how consistent he can put the ball only where his receiver can get it even if the receiver is in tight coverage during 1-on-1s and how he drives off his back foot when in platform.
Demir Ashiruzz Demir Ashiruzz 6'2" | 165 lbs | QB Plainfield North | 2023 IL 2023 Plainfield North Twitter
Mr. Ashiru is a young man that I still believe has a ton of untapped potential that’s going to come to light during his Senior Season Campaign. His ability to evade pressure and make something out of nothing is one to keep eye on. What I was most impressed with out of this young man the first time I scouted him was his ability to get the ball off under pressure as defenders are trying to deliver a hit both when he’s working on the move and in platform. I’m looking forward to being able to see where his arm strength and ability to consistently hit deep shots downfield are currently at as that was one of the biggest question marks I had for Mr. Ashiru – as it wasn’t showcased much on his film. With that being said, you may very well be caught off guard not only with how athletic this young man is but also how this young man performs in the QB individual drills.
Jalen Bea Jalen Bea 6'0" | 205 lbs | QB Christ The King Jesuit College Prep | 2024 IL 2024 Christ The King Jesuit College Prep Twitter
Mr. Bea is a young man that I’m taking as being a “sleeper” heading into this showcase that could potentially turn some heads if he has a good showing. I’ve gotten a chance to scout him before and what I’m interested to see from him is how his arm strength has developed since then. The last time I scouted him he was able to get the ball off under pressure and provided glimpses of his ability to drive the ball on deep shots downfield. He also had glimpses of adding touch on the ball as well on level two throws across the middle of the field. I’m interested to see how his skillset has developed since then and how he fairs in the combine testing as well.
Braylon Bower Braylon Bower 5'10" | 165 lbs | QB Huntley | 2025 IL 2025 Huntley Twitter
Mr. Bower is a young man that I’ve gotten the chance to scout before and one that continues to “do the right things” in terms of hitting the weight room, hitting the books, and honing his craft. What I’m most interested to see out of this young man is how he fairs during the QB Indy time as well as during 1 on 1’s with deep shots downfield. This will not only provide a better insight into his arm strength but also how his fundamentals have improved since the end of the fall season.
Jack Elliott Jack Elliott 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Mount Carmel | 2025 State IL 2025 Mount Carmel Twitter
Mr. Elliott is another one of those quarterbacks that just fits the mold of quarterbacks that Mount Carmel has had at the helm time and time again. He can beat the defense with his legs if need be and provides insight into his arm strength as well. What’s most impressive about this young man is how he can already get the ball off under pressure with the defender in his face and add zip on the ball without being able to drive off his back foot. I’m very interested to see how he fairs during the QB Indy drills to really showcase his arm capabilities in differing scenarios. This young man can very well be in the running for QB MVP if he’s able to perform well and bring more of his potential to light.
Colton Gumino 2025 York Community Twitter
Mr. Gumino is a young man that I’ve been waiting to scout in person for a while now. From all of the good things I’ve heard about this young man in the grapevine I’m super pumped up to watch him compete in person. It’s hard to say much about Mr. Gumino as I haven’t had the chance to scout him as of yet, that’ll change this Saturday, but what I can tell you based off the throwing clips I’ve seen from him is that he does have glimpses of his arm talents. Seems like there’s an upside in this area for him, we’re going to see here come Saturday May 7th and I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs.
