Charlie Gewinner Charlie Gewinner 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Bellevue West | 2024 State NE (RB) | Bellevue West (NE) | 5’9″ 170 lbs
If I had to choose an offensive MVP, I think Bellevue West’s Charlie Gewinner Charlie Gewinner 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Bellevue West | 2024 State NE would be my top pick. Charlie had a field day at the Prospect Tour showcase. Charlie tore it up during the combine section with a 4.53 40-yard dash, 4.13 shuttle drill, 7.19 L-drill, and jumped 9’7″ in the broad jump. All of which were among the top overall marks at the camp. This is especially impressive, considering Gewinner is coming off of an injury that limited his season to two games in 2021. He had no rust and was shifting, juking, running, and jumping out of the stadium. Charlie’s short-area burst and cutback ability are very impressive to watch in real-time. His quick feet left several defenders stunned in place. He has excellent vision and can anticipate a defender’s next move and will adjust his run accordingly. In the end, Charlie ended up taking home the RB MVP award to go with his outstanding day. Gewinner should be able to put up big numbers in the Thunderbird offense.
Gavin Douglas Gavin Douglas 6'2" | 290 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA (OL) | Southeast Polk (IA) | 6’2″ 260 lbs
Gavin was one of the top overall standouts with his aggressive playing style. Southeast Polk has become a factory for elite linemen, and 2024 IOL Gavin Douglas Gavin Douglas 6'2" | 290 lbs | OL Southeast Polk | 2024 State IA looks primed to be the next man up. Douglas was named OL MVP by the coaches at the camp and with good reason. Gavin’s power and technique were on full display as he battled with some of the camp’s top rushers and was able to hold them at bay with his strength and great use of his hands. It’s lights out if you let Gavin get his hands inside. Douglas also posted nice numbers in the combine section with a OL leading 7’10″ broad jump, 5.3 40-yard, and a 4.75 shuttle drill. With two more years to go in the Ram’s program, it’s scary to think how good Gavin will be by the time his prep career is over.
Colby Duncan Colby Duncan 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Gross Catholic | 2024 State NE (QB) | Gross Catholic (NE) | 6’1″ 170 lbs
Colby was a player that I am glad I got to see compete in person. He is a QB with a strong arm but can also add the right amount of touch to make the ball as catchable as possible. He is a very athletic player with a sneaky good pair of wheels on him. Colby tested out very well and was among the top five in nearly every category for a QB. He ran a 4.87 40-yard dash, a swift 4.12 shuttle drill, a 7.39 in the L-drill, and jumped 8’5 1/2″ in the broad jump. Colby is expected to be QB1 for the Cougars and should fill into that role nicely.
Caleb Klein Caleb Klein 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Millard North | 2024 State NE (OL) | Millard North (NE) | 6’3″ 240 lbs
Caleb is a player that I’m ready to see step into a more significant role in 2022. Caleb is part of a very talented Millard North 2024 class and should be a big contributor on the offensive line. He possesses good size and strength that allows him to drop his anchor and not get pushed off his spot. One thing that may be a little overlooked about Caleb’s game is his agility and quickness. Caleb moves fast for a big man and showed that with the 2nd fastest 40-yard time for a linemen with a 5.13 and his second attempt of 5.18 would be the 3rd fastest. He also posted the fastest L-drill with a time of 8.14. Caleb is still a little raw but possesses all the tools to be a mauler for the Mustangs. He matched up well with different defensive lineman in 1v1s and put out some good reps.
Henrik Nimley (RB) | Valley (IA) | 5’10″ 165 lbs
One of the smoothest runners I saw at the Prospect Tour was Valley’s Henrik Nimley. Henrik had a great overall camp and really caught my eye during the positional drills, where he showed his fluidity and twitch. Henrik has a great stop-and-go cutting ability that allows him to change the direction of the play with one swift move. I also thought Henrik showed nice hands in the receiving reps and could provide extra value as a pass catcher out of the backfield. In the combine, Nimley posted times of 4.87 40-yard dash, 4.59 shuttle drill, 7.88 L-drill, and a 8’10 1/2″ broad jump. Watch out for Henrik in the upcoming years.
