Continue ReadingWith the first initial release of the top players across the state in the 2023 and 2024 classes, there are also plenty of other players that are poised for big 2022 campaigns and who are very effective and impact players at their respective positions. Here, we will breakdown some of those players and analyze their 2021 season film.
DL Sage Lone Bear, Lapwai HS
Lone Bear is one of the top 2024 prospects across the state and although playing 8-man football, has impressed at multiple events across the Western Region this off-season and is in line for a huge Junior season. He is a strong and powerful kid that excels inside while using his hands to bull and snatch and plays with a low pad level. Still polishing his skills as a natural bender, he is a plug in the middle and one to watch for in 2022 across the state.
OT Kiegan Henson Kiegan Henson 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Mountain View HS | 2023 State ID , Mountain View HS
Hensen has a very nice frame for the tackle position and has plus athletic abilities out of his stance. Still working on pad level through out his blocking progression, he is a natural bender in his stance and can pull and block in space while finishing blocks in the box. He has long arms and can anchor in pass protection while showing good lateral movement abilities against counter moves, but excels in the outside run game. He is a big bodied athletic prospect that is still refining his tools but holds some upside at the next level due to untapped potential.
CB Kaden Newman Kaden Newman 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Owyhee | 2024 State ID , Owyhee HS
Newman is another top corner prospect across the state and can make an impact at the D-III+ level in college. He is not afraid to come up and make tackles in the box while fluid in his pedal with good hips in transition and breaks well to ball carriers in run support. He shows good ball skills in traffic and highpoint ability while able to cover both in the slot and outside. Playing bigger than he is, he is a high motor kid that always seems to be around the ball.
DL Micah Elliss Micah Elliss 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL Moscow HS | 2023 State ID , Moscow HS
Elliss is a very powerful defensive lineman that wins with strength and torque at the POA. He shows he can get under blockers and wins with leverage and a strong punch to reset the LOS in the run game. He can shed blocks effectively and is athletic enough to two-gap and make plays in the open field when pursuing backside. Still developing as a pass rusher, he has a few power moves at his disposal and plays with a high motor. Due to his length and frame, he can pack on more weight and kick inside at the next level and be very effective and twitchy.
ILB Mason Fullmer Mason Fullmer 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Highland HS | 2023 State ID , Highland HS
Fullmer is an efficient tackler and one of the most active linebackers the state has to offer. Although a bit undersized to play inside, he is twitchy and has good open field speed while breaking well to ball carriers outside the tackles and loves contact in the box. He reads plays quickly and can shock bigger blockers and tackles low to the ground while applying pressure effectively with good timing and thump. In space, he can cover in zone coverage and has a strong understanding of run fits and responsibilities. A high IQ and motor player, he is definitely a college caliber linebacker. Currently, he holds on offer from Montana Tech and other FCS and D-II schools should show interest.
OLB Colton George, Highland HS
George can play all over the second level and shows good length and range on film while covering a ton of ground in the open field. He is impressive when closing in space and takes good angles to ball carriers while exploding through contact and finishing tackles. He is a longer strider that is rangy on the edge and can punch and lock out smaller blockers while flowing well and seemingly always around the ball. Only a 2024 prospect, he will be one to watch over the next two seasons across Idaho and is a top 2024 prospect in the state.
