First, the event was a great success, all the players were great, the parents were fantastic, and it was just an overwhelming success overall. So first, I would like to thank everyone who came out, players, parents, and coaches. That being said, let’s get into today’s story of linebacker standouts from the event.
Overall, the linebacker group was a high-quality group overall, I believe a good chunk of the linebackers that were present have a real opportunity to play the position at the next level. That being said, a few linebackers stood out above the rest. Though, I would like to do a story or two in the near future discussing each linebacker that attended the event.
Jaime Rivera Jaime Rivera 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Abington | 2023 State PA
Rivera is a player I was familiar with prior to the camp but was the first time I had a chance to watch him up close. I came away highly impressed with the Abington athlete, He has a nice foundation and skill set that allows him to be a productive linebacker for Abington in all facets of the game. Add in fluid hips and quality athleticism, and Rivera is the type of player that once he is able to focus solely on being a linebacker, his play at the position is going to get even better.
Kade Werner Kade Werner 5'10" | 200 lbs | LB Bishop McDevitt | 2023 State PA
Werner is one of the top linebackers in the state and on Sunday he continued to show why. Werner tested well and looked fantastic throughout all his drills and in the one-on-one session of the camp. Wener excels in all areas of the game and if he was a bit bigger, would be a bonafide FBS level talent in my opinion. I believe he could still potentially reach that level with a strong summer and senior season. Tons of potential here in a player who should be a highly productive linebacker at the next level.
Siddiq Small Siddiq Small 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Liberty | 2023 State PA
It was the first extended look I’ve had at Small and was impressed. Small has your prototypical size at linebacker, an approximate 6-foot-0 frame and weighing around 215-pounds, with room to fill in. Small moves extremely well and has a nice burst to his game as well that you can see both in drills and one-on-one situations but also on his tape.
Jake Yelton
Yelton is a well-built linebacker and plays a strong-nosed downhill game at middle linebacker on tape. On Sunday, he looked strong in individual drills as well in the one-on-one session of the game, showing quality coverage skills, which wasn’t as prevalent in his junior season highlight tape. Yelton is a player I’ll be keeping a close eye on this summer and fall.
Other notable standouts:
John Klein John Klein 5'10" | 185 lbs | LB Tamaqua Area | 2023 State PA Anthony Petrulo Anthony Petrulo 6'1" | 215 lbs | DL Norwin | 2023 State PA
