New players emerged in the latest update, and we’ve found multiple new running backs across the peach state who had great seasons last fall.. Here are some new running back additions to the latest 2024 Prep Redzone Georgia Rankings.
Bryce Hicks Bryce Hicks 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Carrollton | 2024 State GA – Carrollton
Coming in at No. 138 in the Prep Redzone Rankings is a multi-year starter for one of the top programs in Georgia. Hicks was outstanding in year two, showing big-play potential and the ability to make plays as both a runner and receiver. One of the more versatile backs in West Georgia, Hicks totaled over 1,200 total offensive yards last year and found the end-zone 18 times, proving to be one of the more productive 2024 backs in the state last year. Named a REGION 5-AAAAAA 2nd TEAM OFFENSE last year, Hicks shows great footwork and the ability to spin out of tackles. He runs with balance and he can be too quick and elusive for most defenders. Just a sophomore, Hicks made plenty of defenders look silly last year. He does a nice job of bursting through the hole and can be dangerous in the open field. He’ll be tough to stop once again as a junior this year.
Jayden Scott Jayden Scott 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Stockbridge | 2024 State GA – Stockbridge
Scott may not be the biggest back in the Atlanta area, but but he’s quick, agile, and has more than enough speed to fly by defenses on a consistent basis. That’s why he comes in at No. 131 in the newest 2024 Rankings. Not only is he consistently one of the fastest players on the field, but he’s a tough runner who doesn’t mind contact. He runs hard, runs with balance, and knows how to manage himself down the sideline. In just four games last year, the 5-foot-10 180-pounder rushed 75 times for 460 yards and six touchdowns. In the season opener against Southwest Dekalb, Scott rushed for a respectable 103 yards, but took it to another level in week two as he ran all over Douglas County for 196 yards and two scores. He’s a promising back not only in the region for the 2024 class, but across the state.
TJ Mitchell TJ Mitchell 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Troup County | 2024 State GA – Troup County
Troup County is one of the more respectable programs in West Georgia and have always been able to produce high-caliber talent. They may have a young star on their hands this season in sophomore athlete, TJ Mitchell TJ Mitchell 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Troup County | 2024 State GA . At 6-foot- 180-pounds, Mitchell has the toughness and physicality to make a difference on both sides of the ball. He’s earned an opportunity to carry the load at running back and he’s taken full advantage of it. In his second season last year, Mitchell ran the ball 80 times for 717 yards and five touchdowns, earning an impressive 9 yards per carry. He hits the hole hard, gets upfield in a hurry, and he can pick up yards in a hurry with his long stride. He also shows soft hands out of the backfield in the passing game. He’s ranked the No. 82 prospect in the latest update, and he should see more touches come his way as a junior this year.
Javon Graham Javon Graham 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Fayette County | 2024 State GA – RB – Fayette County
If you’re looking for one of the top 4A backs in metro-Atlanta, Graham is your guy. Ranked at No. 77, Graham is a smaller, shiftier back who is really tough to tackle for his age. He made a big impact last season as a sophomore, making plays as both a back and a pass-catcher. The 5-foot-10 170-pounder showed he was one of the more productive backs in 4A, rushing for 1,146 yards on 145 carries for an impressive 7.9 yards per carry while rushing for 12 touchdowns. He’s also been a major weapon in the passing game, catching 13 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns. When he catches a pass this year, he’s averaging over 36 yards each time. He’s an explosive playmaker who has totaled 1,325 total yards so far this season. He’s a 2024 back to keep an eye on over the next two and a half seasons.
