Doug Nelson Doug Nelson 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Hazelhurst | 2023 State MS | Hazelhurst
At 6’3″ 195, Doug Nelson Doug Nelson 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Hazelhurst | 2023 State MS is a massive presence at the outside wide out spot. He found his way into our rankings after a huge junior season in both football and basketball. While Nelson has the build of a big and long possession receiver, he has some game breaking speed to his game as well. A long strider, Nelson can catch balls over the middle, split the safeties, and take off to the end zone. Nelson also has great hands and coordination, tracking the ball downfield and catching it at its highest point. Nelson currently holds offers from Arkansas State and multiple in-state junior colleges, but his list should continue to grow as the year goes on.
Kedarius Wade Kedarius Wade 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR Callaway | 2023 State MS | Callaway
Callaway High School’s wideout room is as stacked as ever, holding 3 wide outs in our 2023 and 2024 rankings. Wade could be the most athletically advantaged out of all of them. Standing at 6’4″ 180, Wade ran a remarkable 10.70 100m this spring in track and field. The rising wide out has blazing fast speed and the hands to go with it. He is a threat to score from anywhere on the field in any game. In addition to playing wide out, Wade also spends time at the outside linebacker position, thriving on one on one match ups with his athleticism. Really high ceiling for this guy as a player. Wade currently holds offers from Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State, and Louisiana Lafayette among others.
Demarcus Brown Demarcus Brown 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR Callaway | 2023 State MS | Callaway
Another talented Callaway wide out, Demarcus Brown Demarcus Brown 5'9" | 165 lbs | WR Callaway | 2023 State MS plays more of the inside receiver role for the Chargers. Brown stands at 5’9″ 165, but holds blazing speed to him. A smooth route runner, Brown shows great ability to start and stop on a dime and change direction fluidly. When he has the ball in his hands, Brown out runs defenders and makes opposing defensive backs miss in the open field. He has a natural release off the line of scrimmage and can easily beat press coverage. Currently listing offers from Mississippi Gulf Coast and Co-Lin, Brown’s recruitment is just now taking off.
Javeion Butler | Scott Central
Totaling 36 catches for 916 yards and 16 TDs, Javeion Butler was one of the top producing wide outs in 2A. He stands at a massive 6’5″ 195 and has the athleticism to go up and get the football. Although he is a bigger bodied wide out, Butler is a weapon after the catch. He can break tackles and take off for the end zone on any quick game pass to him. His ability to go up over top defenders and high point the football could be the best in the class. Butler’s recruitment has recently taken off, adding offers from Southern Miss and Louisiana Monroe, but the rising star WR should continue to hear his name called soon.
Duran Parish Duran Parish 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Biloxi | 2023 State MS | Biloxi
Committing to Vanderbilt earlier this spring, Duran Parish Duran Parish 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Biloxi | 2023 State MS is a stellar wide out at Biloxi High School who recently found himself added to our rankings. A two sport athlete in football and basketball, Parish has some special athleticism to his game. He is a quick and fast runner in the open field who can go up and get the football over defenders. He has fluid hips that help him change direction quickly and make defenders miss in the open field. Excited to watch the future Commodore play this senior season out and continue to rise in the rankings.
Nick Williams Nick Williams 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Mendenhall | 2023 State MS | Mendenhall
Another huge wide out in the 2023 class, Nick Williams Nick Williams 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Mendenhall | 2023 State MS stands at 6’4″ 185. A long strider, Williams is one of the best outside possession prospects in the state. He creates separation using his foot speed at the line of scrimmage and his impressive length in his arms. Williams has great hands and catches anything thrown his way. He is a good route runner who understands how to find the open space against zone coverage. In addition to his receiving talent, Williams is a dominant blocker in the run game who loves contact. Currently listing offers from Louisiana Monroe, Alabama A&M, and multiple in-state junior colleges, Williams has had an active spring season.
Nicholas Taylor Nicholas Taylor 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR Cleveland Central | 2023 State MS | Cleveland Central
A speedy wide out from Cleveland Central, Nicholas Taylor Nicholas Taylor 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR Cleveland Central | 2023 State MS checked in as our final WR addition to our most recent rankings. Taylor stands at 5’9″ 160 and has some game wrecking speed to his game. He plays the slot role for his team, but also has a ton of value as a kick and punt returner. Taylor has fluid hips that help him get in and out of breaks quickly and can kick it into second gear after the catch. He thrives on routes over the middle and can take the top off the defense. Taylor is a bit of a sleeper prospect right now, but recently added his first offer from Lane College. This list should continue to grow with time.
