Every legitimate team has to have linemen upfront that can control the line of scrimmage and protect the passer. It’s imperative to be able to line it up and knock the defensive linemen back to gain a first down in any situation. A mauler by definition is an offensive lineman who has the ability to come off the ball and create displacement in the run game. These furniture movers are more guys that have stood out to me so far.
Hunter Mastin Hunter Mastin 6'2" | 250 lbs | OL Trinity Christian Lubbock | 2023 State TX – Lubbock Trinity Christian- Class of 2023
Hunter is a stout interior offensive linemen that I had the chance to see in person earlier in the year at the PrepRedzone stock up showcase. He has a strong base, great punch, and did a great job fighting to refit with the hands. He is a crafty player who uses leverage and power to his advantage. He reportedly squats around 650 pounds and benches well over 400 pounds. At 6’2 275 pounds, he uses his natural hip leverage to get underneath guys. He does a great job using the off-hand to snap and trigger at center but is strong and enough to play a front or backside guard if needed. Back in March he took an unofficial visit to TCU and has spent his spring tearing it up and qualifying for states in track and field.
Andre Cojoe Andre Cojoe 6'6" | 330 lbs | OL Mansfield Timberview | 2023 State TX – Mansfield Timberview – Class of 2023
Andre is a massive 6’6 330 pound offensive line prospect out of Mansfield Texas. He is gifted athlete that has the prototypical division one lineman’s frame, demeanor, body control and strain to finish. Reviewing his tape you immediately see a big fella that is mean, quick and has elite level patience. He has a good base, nice kick slide, posture, and a violent punch. He has scholarship offers from a bevy of blue blood programs like Texas, Texas A&M, and Arizona State among others.
Barrett Eddlemon – La Vernia High School- Class of 2023
Barrett makes this list because of his unrelenting effort and strain to finish. Last fall he dominated his region in San Antonio and earned linemen of the district honors. He has doubled down on that success by following up with a huge spring of development. He has earned a bevy of new scholarship offers from the likes of Yale, Columbia, Sam Houston, Baylor, Penn, and the Air Force academy. He will play offensive tackle this spring and upcoming fall but he is versatile enough to to be able to all five positions at the next level. It’s no surprise that so many new schools are throwing their hats the race for his services and it will be interesting to see where he commits to.
Zachery Curtis – Bishop Lynch- Class of 2023
Zachery is a 6’4 280 pound offensive line prospect out of Dallas Texas. He had a break-out season last fall for Bishop Lynch. What I initially popped out to me on tape was how well he utilized his length. He recently picked up a scholarship offer from Coach Hue Jackson at Grambling state university. He is a guy with a ton of potential that I could easily see playing tackle or guard at the next level.
