To be slept on means that you possess a high level of talent and potential that hasn’t been recognized or highly publicized for whatever reason. There are many talented athletes all over the state that fit in this category but here are a few names for you to keep an eye on.
Daniel Cruz – Richland High School – Class of 2024
Daniel is a stout 6’4 285 pound linemen that is lean, strong, smart, and technically sound.
I love watching his tape because he is a guy that moves with efficiency within all of his movements/ footwork. He has the length to play all five positions if needed but will be a center at the next level from my breakdown. Daniel is a guy that has gone from slept on to one of the hottest names on the recruiting trail. He most recently picked up a bevy of power 5 scholarship offers from the likes of Oklahoma, Arizona State, and Florida State University.
Tre Williams Tre Williams 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Parish Episcopal | 2023 State TX – Parish Episcopal – Class of2023
Tre is a 6’3 220-pound outside linebacker/ wide receiver that holds a 3.6 GPA and has had a decorated career at Parish Episcopal winning 3 state championships so far. Last season he reportedly put up 129 tackles and 12 sacks. He is a sudden and twitchy athlete that has great get off, ball skills, and a motor that does not stop. He impressed me last fall with his position versatility and his willingness to strain. There were countless time on tape last fall where he showed the ability to hawk runners down sideline to sideline. He has some work to do in the weight room to fill out his frame but he is a baller and a guy that is definitely slept on.
Devin love – Lewisville High school – Class of 2024
Devin is in my opinion is the epitome of a prospect that is slept on. He is long, strong, tough, and well-coached. Devin caught my eye last year and popped on tape with his ability to create movement in the run game. On one play last fall I recall him stepping to the defender then through them and finishing with a double under and pancake. He is technically sound and well coached. His segment Coach Tammie Moore had rave reviews about Devin and they high expectations for him as a leader going into next fall. I predict that once the spring is over and he get a chance to get evaluated he will have a bevy of scholarship offers to chose from.
Quentin Henry – Mesquite High School – Class of 2024
Quentin is an active and long 6’5 300-pound offensive tackle out of Mesquite, Texas. He has a nice kick slide and has show the ability to strike, refit and anchor his defender in pass protection. He’s a guy that has been slept on as of late but with his elite length, size, he will develop into a national recruit. He recently picked up an offer from Grambling State University and will be a guy to keep an eye on as next fall approaches.
