The 2024 position groupings for the state of Arkansas continues to take shape. Today we are going to look at some of the defensive backs that make up the position throughout the state. As with all of positions that make up the Prep RedZone Arkansas 2024 prospect list, it is subject to change and plenty of additions. Here are a few defensive backs in the 2024 class to keep an eye out for this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="211167" first="MarTavion" last="Casey"]-Jacksonville-5’7” 150-Pounds
Casey is one of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2024. Jacksonville has been able to line him up on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. To top it off he has seen plenty of action on special teams. On the defensive side of the ball, Casey uses his terrific speed well in the secondary. He does an impressive job of making plays on the ball and he has the hands to take a pass the other direction. Casey is a prospect to keep an eye out for on both sides of the ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="265361" first="Isaiah" last="Taylor"]-Fayetteville-5’11” 160-Pounds
Taylor is a defensive back that is always around the football. He is a prospect that uses his instincts well and is rarely caught out of position. Taylor has the hands to pick off passes and the footwork to know where he is at on the field. Taylor having worked on both sides of the ball is going to be something that helps him a great deal on the defensive side of the ball. He is a prospect that I look forward to seeing more of this coming season.
[player_tooltip player_id="260284" first="Aquavious" last="Dunbar"]-Lakeside-6’3” 215-Pounds
Dunbar is a versatile player that can play the running back or safety positions with equal effectiveness. His size and speed can give opposing passing games plenty of problems. Dunbar is not afraid to take and deliver a hit. He is a prospect that can excel on both sides of the ball. However, his potential as a safety intrigue me, mainly because he has the talent to be a game changing safety. Keep an on Dunbar over the next few seasons.
[player_tooltip player_id="149600" first="Lamont" last="Jones"]-Arkadelphia-6’1” 155-Pounds
Arkadelphia has extremely talented players on both sides of the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="149600" first="Lamont" last="Jones"] is a defensive back that is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers. The Arkadelphia coaching staff does a great job of positioning him on the field. Jones may be batting the ball away on a deep route on one play and on the next he may be rushing the passer. Jones has great versatility and I look forward to seeing what he can do in 2022.
[player_tooltip player_id="314061" first="Brenden" last="Bennett"]-Bryant-6’0” 170-Pounds
It does not really come as a big surprise that Bryant has more talented prospects coming up through the ranks. [player_tooltip player_id="314061" first="Brenden" last="Bennett"] is a prospect that is lurking in the secondary that does a good job of making plays on the football. Bennett is a defensive back that does an impressive job of separating the ball from the ball carrier. Bennett is another prospect in a talented 2024 class that has the potential to light up Friday nights over the next few years.
