Tyler Herzog Tyler Herzog 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB Avondale | 2024 State MI – Avondale
There are many things to be optimistic about and a few things to question with Tyler. First, with the few yellow flags, I haven’t seen Tyler very active during the offseason or on social media. Now, for the green flags, I know that Tyler is a competitor and has an insane drive to win. While coaching Avondale’s JV team in 2020, Tyler came in as a fiery competitor who had excellent leadership potential. I hope that Tyler can lead the Yellowjackets to an OAA Gold title with Avondale’s offensive talent and the offensive-minded coaching.
Jake Zann Jake Zann 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Alpena | 2024 State MI – Alpena
As I’ve said multiple times, Zann can sling it. Zann needs to improve his decision-making and accuracy, but if he cleans up just a few fixable things, he can improve his game and rise in the rankings pretty quickly.
Sunny Kadlitz Sunny Kadlitz 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Berkley | 2024 State MI – Berkley
Pretty active during the offseason, Kadlitz shows lots of promise as Berkley’s QB1. Inconsistent during 2021, I hope that Kadlitz has improved his game enough to take a big step up this season, Berkley ended last season swinging with an OT loss against a great Waterford Mott team, and they’ll be the favorites to win the OAA Gold this season.
Ryan Shelby Ryan Shelby QB North Farmington | 2024 State MI – North Farmington
A baseball and football standout, Ryan Shelby Ryan Shelby QB North Farmington | 2024 State MI is a great athlete who will strive for a consistent 2022 season. Shelby has similar physical tools to Rochester’s Bueno, but Shelby needs to put it all together to become dominant. IQ and grace under pressure will be tremendous for Shelby this season.
Noah Funk Noah Funk 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Forest Hills Central | 2024 MI – GR Christian
An offseason standout with camps & 7-on-7, Noah Funk Noah Funk 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Forest Hills Central | 2024 MI is a promising QB in a unique situation. See, Funk was the backup this past season behind Wickstrom. GR Christian consistently faces many top opponents, and if Funk gets significant time, he could truly shine. Specifically, he’s made great reads, and he’s delivered many accurate strikes through the past few months. He’s a very similar QB to Wickstrom, and it will be interesting to see how this season plays out.
