Today we will analyze the wide receiver position and why these young men have stood out! A lot of these young prospects will be playing at the next level and become great! At the wide receiver position, these young men have shown excellent talent that will make your head turn. Let’s take a look at some more top wide receivers in the city of San Antonio.
Aaron Dubose- 6’4 170Ibs/WR/ Brennan High School
Analysis: Aaron Dubose had a great season last year with 884 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns and earned 2nd Team All- Area honors! Dubose shows that he possesses great hands and is a deep threat. He displays superb route running ability and does a good job getting off of press coverage. Mr. Dubose makes defenders look silly in the open field with his run after catch ability. He is looking to have an even better senior year!
Anthony Evans Anthony Evans 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Judson | 2023 State TX – 6’0 170Ibs/WR/ Converse Judson High School
Analysis: Anthony Evans Anthony Evans 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Judson | 2023 State TX is one of the most talented wide receivers in the area. With a good track and field pedigree, Evans has made himself into a dangerous deep threat on opponents with his speed. A three start recruit, Evans has racked up 19 offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, TCU, Houston, UTSA, TCU, Memphis, LA Tech, UNLV, Arkansas State, Texas Tech, Liberty, UCONN, Colorado, Texas State, Missouri , Iowa State, Utah, and Georgia. Of course, this young man will play on Saturdays in his career. With his superb route running ability, hands, and ability to get open, he is a guy to always account for! He will have a bright future!
Edmarrion Contreras- 5’10 155Ibs/WR/ Cibolo Steele
Analysis: Edmarrion Contreras was named 1st team All- District in his junior season. Even though he is underweight, he plays like a man twice his size. He also possesses good open field speed which allows him to break away from defenders. He can also be a game changer when he is in the game, because he is a very reliable receiver. With his soft hands, he is just about able to grab anything that comes his way. Contreras will be looking to have a great senior season. He has the ability to to compete with the best of them.
Jackson Johnston- 6’7 205Ibs/WR/ Tivy High School
Analysis: Jackson Johnston had a good season last year, but it was shortened due to injury. He stacked up some decent stats for short season acquiring 23 receptions, 573 yards, and 6 touchdowns in only 8 games played. With his tremendous height, he is a reliable weapon at any given moment. With his long arms and reach, he can snag over any cornerback or safety guarding him. He also runs his routes and possesses pretty good hands. He has the potential to have an outstanding season if he is fully healthy. Johnston does an excellent job faking out corners and safeties in his route running and does a good job at getting open. Look out for him this upcoming season.
Michael Vasquez- 6’3 192Ibs/WR/ Clark High School
Analysis: Michael Vasquez had a superb season last year stacking up 582 receiving yards, 32 catches averaging 18 yards per catch and acquiring 6 touchdowns. Vasquez runs his routes very well and is smooth in and out of cuts. He also has good hands and is a good stalk blocker on the edge, which can be the difference between a touchdown or tackle for loss. Also, he possesses decent speed and can break away from most defenders. This young man will also be looking to have a phenomenal season this upcoming fall!
