These players have shown that they have the potential to become NFL prospects, if they keep playing the way they are playing. Today we are first going to take a look at the running back position. The future prospects on this list have shown that they have the speed, strength, ball carry vision, hands, and playmaking ability to be an astounding running back for their perspective teams. These young men have also made a name for themselves nationally, which is even more phenomenal. Let’s take a look at some of the best running backs in the entire state of Texas.
Rueben Owens- 5’11 190Ibs/ RB/ El Campo High School
Analysis: Rueben Owens is currently the best running back in the state of Texas. Owens was a MaxPreps All-American last year and is also the number one all purpose back in the country. This young man can juke anyone out of their cleats at any moment. He has an extreme amount of patience when he sets up blocks and has the power to run over defenders with ease. Owens can also be used in the passing game very efficiently because he also has good hands. He does not go down on first contact often and does a great job at keeping his balance and getting yards up field. Owens has tons of colleges looking at him already. He will be looking to make a lot of noise next year!
Tre Wisner Tre Wisner 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB DeSoto | 2023 State TX – 5’11 180Ibs/RB/ Connally High School
Analysis: Tre Wisner Tre Wisner 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB DeSoto | 2023 State TX is another top prospect to look out for at the running back position in the state of Texas. He racked up a total of 60 carries for 900 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns averaging 15.1 yards per carry. Also, he had 13 catches for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns. Next he acquired a total of 37 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Wisner is very elusive and quick as well. He has break away speed and can run away from most defenders. Wisner is very explosive as well and hits the hole with authority. Entering his senior year, he is currently committed to the University of Oklahoma. Look for him to have a standout season in 2022!
Quinten Joyner Quinten Joyner 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Manor | 2023 State TX 5’10 190Ibs/RB/ Manor High School
Analysis: Joyner was one of the guys who was named an impact player recently and their is a big reason why. When he steps on the field, his offense is a different team. He is very difficult to bring down and is a very powerful running back. Also, this young man has a few universities looking at him which is Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Indiana, and Louisville. Joyner does a good job at keeping his pad level low and tries to keep falling forward when he is being tackled. He has good vision and also has good hands. Moving forward, look for him to have an even better senior season!
Kendrick Reescano- 5’11 190/RB/ New Caney High School
Analysis: Kendrick Reescano, a Michigan State commit, has proven that he deserves to be named as one of the top running backs in the entire state of Texas. He rushed for 1,945 yards and 25 touchdowns, and was the top rusher in district 8-5A in the division 1 bracket. This young man is a true power back with very good hands. He plays extremely physical which is why you must wrap him up. In the open field, Reescano does a good job at extending plays and finds excuses to get into the end zone! With this package, he is a dangerous weapon to any defense. In the upcoming 2022 football season, Reescano looks like he is going to help his team go far!
Cameron Cook Cameron Cook 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Stony Point | 2023 State TX – 5’10 180Ibs/RB/ Stony Point High School
Analysis: Cameron Cook Cameron Cook 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Stony Point | 2023 State TX , other wise known as ” The Chef” is one of the top premier backs in the state. He has really good vision when he is in the open field or when he is just receiving the ball at the line of scrimmage. This young man has a good build and good hands. He makes sure that he tries to get as much yards as he can before he goes down. Without him on offense, Stony Point is not very effective. Cook has decent speed, but is powerful and explosive as well. For the upcoming season, look for him to turn some more heads of college coaches and scouts!
