Today we will take a look at some more talented offensive linemen in San Antonio. The big boys up front do not get the recognition they deserve, but today they will. These young men are the reason their running backs, receivers, and quarterbacks are able to score many touchdowns for the team. They risk crucial injury in order to help their team win in the trenches. Last time we named five top offensive linemen that impacts their team the most, and now we will analyze some more talented offensive linemen that has the potential to play at the next level!
Carter Traynor- 6’6 265Ibs/OT/ Davenport High School
Analysis: Carter Traynor is a sleeper around the city. this young man possesses a tall and solid frame with long arms. On the football field, he displays good footwork and plays with physicality as well. He does a great job at pancaking opponents. Also, he plays with high energy which is what you would need playing in the trenches. He bullies opponents many yards down the field and embarrasses them while doing it. He can compete with the best of them. Keep an eye out for him this upcoming football season!
Ethan Hart- 6’4 245Ibs/LT/ Madison High School
Analysis: Ethan Hart is a player that will only improve the more he plays the position. His long arms and good strength allows him to pile drive opponents left and right! He does an excellent job at getting to the second level and opening up holes for his teammates. Next he is a very good run blocker and pass blocker because he plays aggressive and uses good technique blocking defensive ends. Finally he has good speed for a man his size which would be scary for anybody trying to take him out!
Johnathan Conway- 6’1 260Ibs/LT, OG/ Johnson High School
Analysis: Mr. Conway is a phenomenal player at the offensive lineman position. He is a two year varsity starter. He was named 28-6A 1st Team All-District, and also made the All-Athletic Academic team. This young man plays extremely aggressive and dirty with the big boys. If you need him to block down field on screen plays, he is one guy you can count on to lay someone out! He does a great job using his hands, and keeps a low pad level when blocking opponents. Conway has also shown that he has good footwork which is crucial when it comes to protecting the pocket! Even though he is short, he plays like he is 6’5 and up. Please do not sleep on this young man next season!
Sam Waters- 6’4 245Ibs/OT/ Boerne High School
Analysis: This young man is definitely a lineman around the city that will be able to play on Saturdays! Waters is a scholar athlete with a 4.0 GPA, being apart of the national honor society! He is very disciplined and displays extremely good footwork! Waters is a force to be reckoned with on the field because he plays with physicality and makes sure his opponents are on their back. He has great strength and does an excellent job at driving his feet until the whistle blows! He does not get enough credit that he deserves. When you watch him on film, he gives you chills just watching him! Being an amazing run blocker and pass blocker, he helps his team tremendously. With his long arms and solid frame, he poses as a huge threat to opposing defenses. Mr. Waters has a bright future ahead of him!
Jacob McLaughlin- 6’3 285Ibs/C/ Boerne High School
Analysis: Jacob McLaughlin is a monster on the field! He is another lineman that deserves huge recognition. He was a 1st Team- All District player in district 14-4A. McLaughlin was the district 14-4A offensive lineman of the year as well! This young man is a huge bowling ball in the trenches. As soon as he puts his hands on defensive linemen, they go backwards immediately. Being a solid 285 pounds, this young man does an excellent job at using his weight and brute strength to drive defensive linemen into the ground with his good technique, and he opens up huge gaps which is crucial for the run game! He is a stud in the passing game and running game because he does an excellent job at using his hands and long arms to keep opponents at bay. He serves as a brick wall for his team and they can count on him every single play!
