TN Future Stars Knoxville Tryout: Quarterback Standouts
Tennessee Future Stars had their third of the fourth tryout this weekend in Knoxville. Lots of talent came out to Grace Christian Academy to compete for a spot on the roster to compete against Kentucky Future Stars this upcoming summer.
Take a look at the Quarterbacks who showed up and showed out at the Knoxville tryout.
Deklan Meisner Deklan Meisner QB Concord Christian School | 2028 TN | Quarterback | 2028
Meisner had great anticipation with the football in his hands. His presence on the field was confident and carried through in his decision-making. Was impressed by his ability to lead the offense as a sixth-grader. Excited to see his growth and development both mentally and physically as he progresses through middle school.
Jon David Gillum | Quarterback | 2028
Gillum demonstrated advanced understanding inside the pocket. He had a strong arm for his size and stature which helped to propel the ball downfield to make big plays. There was no hesitation when the ball was snapped and put into action. The direction in his passing game stood out amongst the group with his ability to lead wide receivers towards the end zone.
Jack Harrison | Quarterback | 2027
Harrison’s passing ability was strong throughout the entirety of the tryout. He was able to make good reads and find the receivers downfield. Impressed by his poise and longing to learn from coaches and other teammates. His focus will be key in developing his game as he moves through middle school.
Madden Guffey Madden Guffey 6'0" | 165 lbs | QB Bearden | 2026 TN | Quarterback | 2026
This eighth-grader was one to watch in Knoxville. His reaction time was monumental in hitting his target. Whether it was a quick release or a longer pass downfield there was no hesitation coming from Guffey. There is no doubt that he will be a strong first-string contender when entering high school play.
Briggs Cherry Briggs Cherry 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Baylor | 2026 State TN | Quarterback | 2026
Cherry’s technique and discipline were outstanding in his performance on Saturday. His skillset and focus when it came to reaction time and vision downfield were notable. The velocity in his passing game was on point hitting his target at almost every rep. He is competing at an extremely high level right now and I am excited to see his skills continue to develop as he moves to high school.
Blaine Stansberry Blaine Stansberry 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Oak Ridge | 2026 TN | Quarterback | 2026
Stansberry showcased footwork that was above average within his group. He was smooth and focused during every drill following directions well. His coordination and athleticism showed that he could move around in the pocket and even run the football himself. Physically he stood out amongst the group with his height and weight.
