With the off-season being a working progress, many of the top talents in the city are grinding every day to get better at their craft. These guys are impact players for their school and they change the narrative of football games whether big or small. Impact players makes a difference in the teams attitude, motor, and overall play! In this article, we will dive into some interesting prospects that have been game changers in their perspective careers. Hopefully, all of them will get a chance to play on Saturdays or even Sundays! Daniel Perez- 6’3 275/ DL/ New Braunfels High School Analysis: The first thing you need to know about Daniel Perez is that he plays with a very high motor. This young man wrecks havoc for offensive linemen tremendously! His composure allows for other defensive players on his team to play the same way as he does. Mr. Perez has great technique and utilizes swim moves or bull rushes to their full compacity. He is a very good tackler and is physical in the trenches with the big boys! He does a very good job at stripping the football. This young man truly changes the narrative of the game by consistently acquiring tackles for losses, sacks, and even forcing fumbles which is vital for a stout defense! Alejandro Tavarez- 6’0 178Ibs/WR/ Johnson High School Analysis: Talk about a true playmaker at the wide receiver position. Alejandro Tavarez racked up 62 catches, 981 yards, and 12 touchdowns last year as a junior. He possesses very good hands and makes big time catches in clutch moments for his team. This young man makes sure to make big plays for his team. Also, he is tremendous at running after the catch and breaking tackles in the open. He is a crucial weapon for Johnson High School and if he is ever injured for any reason his team will suffer! Keep your eye out for him this upcoming season. [player_tooltip player_id="136172" first="Makai" last="Williams"]- 6’0 214Ibs/LB/ Cibolo Steele High School Analysis: [player_tooltip player_id="136172" first="Makai" last="Williams"] is a first team all state linebacker that will make a huge difference for his team. He also made the All- American combine team and he racked up an astounding 148 tackles, 33 solo tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and forced 3 fumbles last year! When he is on the gridiron, he flies all over the place with a troy Polamalu play style. This young man is an extremely good run stopper and makes plays for his defense consistently. He is a very good tackler in open space and does not miss frequently. Mr. Williams is also a tremendous Blitzer. If you want to change the narrative of a game, put [player_tooltip player_id="136172" first="Makai" last="Williams"] in! Cash McCollum- 6’3 210Ibs/QB/ Wimberly High School Analysis: Cash McCollum had a great season on varsity his sophomore season last year. He racked up 2,336 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns with a 69% completion percentage which is top 10 overall in the state of Texas, and number 1 among sophomores in the state of Texas. He led his team to a district championship, Bi-District championship, and an area championship. Even though he is still developing, Cash McCollum has a strong arm and is very accurate! When he is in the game, all of his teammates are in sink and by him being a good pocket passer and playmaker, he is able to help his team in every shape and form score points! Cash does a great job at going through his progressions, even when the pocket is collapsing. Without this young man on the field, Wimberly High School will be in trouble in a major way. Despite being underrated, be on the lookout for this young prospect on your football radars! Barret Eddlemon- 6’4 280Ibs/OT,OG,C/ La Vernia High School Analysis: Barret Eddlemon is a beast at the left tackle position! He is a 2x District 14-4A Offensive Linemen of The Year recipient and he was All-Area last football season. Also, he is a team captain which shows his leadership abilities. When it comes to the trenches and playing physical with the big boys, he gets it done! He is a four star recruit currently. This young man drives his opponents into the ground until the whistle stops consistently. When he is making a block, he drives his opponents five, ten, even fifteen yards behind the line of scrimmage. He is the reason why his quarterbacks and running backs are able to make plays. Without a good offensive line, you aren’t getting anywhere! He is a huge different maker for his team and will be playing at the collegiate level on Saturdays!
