Even at the NFL combine, one of the main attractions is the 40 yard dash. For that reason, track and football go hand and hand. The speed in the 55 and 100 meters dashes correlate to the field somewhat, just like the 40. Here are some of the fastest times from returning football players in the DMV from this track season.
Nyckoles Harbor Nyckoles Harbor 6'6" | 220 lbs | DL Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State MD | 6’6’’ 220 lbs | Defensive End | Archbishop Carroll (DC) | Class of 2023
Harbor’s athleticism is a complete freak of nature. It’s amazing that a 6’6’’ 220 lbs edge rusher can also be one of the fastest players in an area that is loaded with speed. Harbor made national headlines last week running a 10.29 in the 100 meter dash. He also has posed times of 20.76 in the 200 meters, can run a 4.39 in the 40 yard dash, and won the DCSAA State Championship in the 55 meters. The 5 star edge rusher is already committed to the 2023 Under Armour All American Game, has a 4.5 GPA, and currently has offers from almost every Power 5 school in the nation. Oklahoma, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Maryland, Tennessee St, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Stanford, USC, Ohio State, and just some of his offers.
Shamar Williams | 5’9’’ 170 lbs | Athlete | Patrick Henry- Ashland High School (VA) | Class of 2023
Williams is a two way player who has the athleticism to make plays on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he fluctuates between playing corner and nickle slot. He has the speed to cover well, jump routes, and the physicality to come up and stop the run. On the offensive side of the ball, he is a threat to take it to the house on every touch as a running back. He has great vision and fights for tough yards. He ran a 10.83 in the 100 meters, which is the 2nd fastest “verified” time so far this season among returning football players in the DMV. He also runs a 6.51 in the 55 meters and a 22.5 in the 200 meters.
Marcus Brown | 6’2’’ 175 lbs | Wide Receiver | Archbishop Carroll (DC) | Class of 2023
Brown is speedster who has play making ability and should see a larger role in the Carroll offense next season. He finished last season with 7 catches for 120 yards and averaged 17.1 yards a catch for a Carroll team that finished 13-1, and was arguably the best in the District of Columbia. Brown recently ran a 10.95 in the 100 meters, and is a member of a nationally ranked relay team with teammates Nyckoles Harbor Nyckoles Harbor 6'6" | 220 lbs | DL Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State MD and Jamarr Ebron Jamarr Ebron 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State MD .
Carmelo Taylor | 6’ 170 lbs | Wide Receiver | Patrick Henry- Ronoake High School (VA) | Class of 2023
Taylor was the ultimate offensive weapon for Patrick Henry HS last season. He was used as a receiver, heavily used as a Wildcat QB for their offense, and was deadly at both positions. Taylor was named 2nd Team All RRD, Honorable Mention All RRD Offensive Specialist, and 1st Team All Region 5D. The junior speedster ran 10.99 in the 100 meters this spring, also runs a 21.65 in the 200 meters, a 6.48 in the 55 meters 6.48, and is listed as having a 4.48 40 yard dash.
Jawon Blue | 5’10’’ 170 lbs | Athlete | Digital Harbor High School (MD) | Class of 2024
Blue is a young athlete who is just coming off of his sophomore season. He is already making a name for himself in Baltimore City with his speed. At a track meet last week, he ran a 11.06 in the 100 meters, and a 22.58 in the 200 meters. He also ran a 6.84 in the 55 meters this past winter in indoor track.
Kelvin Kainoa Winston | 5’10’’ 170 lbs | Defensive Back| Gonzaga College High School (DC) Class of 2025
Winston, who is a freshmen, is the youngest athlete on our list and has the largest room for improvement. He is a shutdown corner who covers well, breaks well on the ball, and doesn’t mind sticking his nose in there to make a tackle. He is already running an 11.08 in the 100 meters and a 22.63 in the 200 meters. Imagine what his times will be and how fast he will play the game by the time he is a senior.
Jamarr Ebron Jamarr Ebron 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State MD | 5’9’’ 160 lbs | Wide Receiver | Archbishop Carroll (DC) | Class of 2023
Ebron is the 3rd Carroll athlete on our list, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that their relay team; that includes he, Marcus Brown, and Nyckoles Harbor Nyckoles Harbor 6'6" | 220 lbs | DL Archbishop Carroll | 2023 State MD ; is nationally ranked. Ebron runs an 11.11 in the 100 meters and a 6.69 in the 55 meters, which is the 5th fastest in DC. Ebron is not only a great track runner, he is a problem for opposing defenses on the football field. He currently holds offers from Temple, Boston College, Missouri State, Maryland, Howard University, Liberty, Buffalo, New Hampshire, and James Madison.
