Cory O’Bryant | 6’0″ 175lbs | 2023 | Tomball Memorial
Cory O’Bryant is an electric outside wideout with speed and can is a threat that can take it to the crib on any pay. Lining up predominantly outside on the right side, he has come into a great role for his Wildcat offense. O’Bryant wins down the field and is lethal on his post routes. He can make plays with the ball in his hands and is a big-play threat. His 30 catches for 681 yards, 22.7ypc, and 7TD attest to his skill set. O’Bryant still hasn’t landed his first offer yet but has the skill set to be a viable deep threat at the next level.
Brent Hallman Jr. | 5’10″ 165lbs | 2025 | Chapin
Coming out of El Paso’s Chapin High School is a young versatile weapon in Brent Hallman Jr. The freshman standout got reps on varsity and showed out. Lining up in the slot and outside, he looked comfortable and performed in 1-5A. On his routes, he makes sharp visible cuts that the QB can see. Hallman Jr. is fearless across the middle, has reliable hands, and overall plays strong for his age. The do-it-all freshman also adds value in the return game and his talents were noted across the district as he earned 1-5A all-district honors. Although he is young, he has the skillset to thrive and will continue to develop into a homerun threat.
Ferron Cotton Ferron Cotton 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Memorial | 2023 State TX | 5’10″ 165lbs | 2023 | Frisco Memorial
The speedster from Frisco Memorial High School had a very impressive season in 2021. His playmaking ability made him a nightmare to deal with for defenses. Predominantly lining up on the left side in the slot, he displayed all types of skills. Cotton can win down the field, tracks the ball well, and has great ball skills. He moves through the traffic of the defense with no issue and keeps himself clean from contact in his routes. His 38 catches were good for 790 yards, 20.7ypc, and 10 TD in 2021. Although Cotton hasn’t been offered yet, I can’t imagine that remaining the case for much longer.
Jaden Williams | 5’10″ 160lbs | 2023 Montgomery
Jaden Williams was a 2-5A honorable mention that posted 26 receptions and 7TD in his junior season. Williams is a true playmaker for Montgomery. His shiftiness and ability to break tackles makes him an excellent return man where he racked up 258 return yards. Lining up outside, I noticed his cuts are precise, he doesn’t waste movement, which in turn creates separation. He’s solid against press coverage and really kills DBs on double moves with his quickness. Williams is a guy who you want the ball in his hands, whether that comes off screens or in the return game, he possesses game-changing ability.
Zechariah Sample | 5’11″ 160lbs | 2024 | Katy Jordan
New Jordan transfer Zechariah Sample is going from Del Valle to Katy. Sample is bringing speed and elusiveness to his new squad that I’m sure his coaches will love. At Del Valle, he was primarily used as a slot/ H-back. With the ball in his hands, he can make people miss like it’s nothing. This makes sense as to why they fed him a lot of screens and used him on jet sweeps, to get your playmakers the ball. Playing for Jordan next year should raise his stock and Zechariah Sample will be a new name to watch out for in the Houston area.
Ivan Salazar | 5’9″ 170lbs | 2024 | Brenham
Ivan Salazar is another guy who has yet to pull an offer but he has the skill set that coaches will look for. As the left outside receiver, Salazar is a balanced wideout who projects well as an X wide receiver. He thrives on the deep ball and his QB has the trust to throw it up to him. Salazar has some stellar blocking on film as well with several pancakes. He gets good leverage and drives his feet until his man is on the ground or the whistle is over. This type of effort is uncoachable and his running backs have plenty of room to run behind him outside. Ivan Salazar plays strong, with a lot of effort, and is working hard for an opportunity at the next level.
Austin Stallman | 5’9″ 160lbs | 2023 | Angleton
To close out this list we have Angleton slot, Austin Stallman. With soft hands and return ability, Stallman profiles as your prototypical slot. Stallman has confident hands that you see on display when he goes across the middle. He makes catches in traffic and isn’t scared to run routes through the middle of the defense. He’s very successful on the out and up route and when he gets the ball in his hands he is very slippery and not easy to take down. If you’re looking for a slot who has sure hands, gets open, and provides a spark on special teams then Austin Stallman is your guy.
