These were the first five OL prospects I was a big fan of for the duration of the our showcase and if you ask me, I believe ALL five have the upside to play college football once their high school careers are over due to their size, skillsets, speed, etc. Take a look at the first five up front that balled out in Brooklyn Park!
Michael Oftedahl Michael Oftedahl 6'2" | 285 lbs | OL Mound Westonka | 2024 State MN | Westonka | 2024
Offedahl was one of the first offensive line on Saturday that caught my eyes. Michael showed a strong punching ability throughout the reps I got to watch in Indy drills. His punching ability remained consistent when he got into 1v1s as well, as Michael showed elusive hands that just kept hammering away and guided the defensive linemen far away from the QB. Michael is exact what you ask for from the Center position. His vision sticks out to me on tape as he plays very smooth when he pulls off inside to pull block, keeping a visual appearance throughout the duration of the play until he crashes into the second level on the outside. Michael shows a consistent pad-level that shoves well in a downhill type motion from what the eyes can see. I certainly believe this young man has the potential to play on Saturdays with those ample skillsets as a 6’2 280 pound anchor in the middle of the White Hawks hog mollies.
Joey Zach | Eden Prairie | 2023
Joey was a member of my first-team for offensive linemen as I came away impressed just how well he moved his body in a nearly 6’5 260 pound frame last Saturday. Joey showed a significant push early in his reps I caught, and I believe this dude has even more juice he can use when I unwinded the tape. Does an excellent job attacking the sweet spot of the DL from an angle to shove him to the turf on a consistent basis. Joey has the ability to draw multiple points of contact throughout the duration of his plays. Joey has the ability to develop stronger contact on tape when his arms develop more bend with some offseason work as we go into the 2022 season for the Eagles hog molly.
Carter Geerts Carter Geerts 6'2" | 235 lbs | OL Byron | 2023 State MN | Byron | 2023
The reigning OL Camp MVP was fundamentally sound throughout the duration of the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase. I loved watching Carter’s hands in full work last Saturday, as he showed quite the physical presence by not just showing quick hands, but the efficiency with his contact he had on the table in front of him. Carter unleashes a quick reactive trigger quickly off the snap from the game tape I watched from 2021. What can develop Carter even further? His pad-level is higher in some game film than I would prefer, so if he could use those quick hands I mentioned to attack lower and more centered on the DL, that would grow this young man even more this offseason. I do love however when Carter does get the pad-level on point, his physicality and his ability to drive his DL in to the second level. Certainly another prospect on this list that will have a future playing football on Saturdays.
Aiden Horel Aiden Horel 6'5" | 325 lbs | OL Prior Lake | 2024 State MN | Prior Lake | 2024
Not going to lie, Aiden was likely one of the hog molly prospects I was most intrigued about watching at our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase when I saw he signed up. I got a early glimpse of this kid last year on playing freshmen football for the Lakers, where he absolutely was crushing punches up front. Aiden took some slight time to get going at the Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase during 1v1s, but once he settled in, he showed the drive in his step and punch to unload strong punches in 1v1s. Aiden shows a strong bend for 6’4 300 pounds on tape and punches effectively from side angles. Aiden has consistently shown me a kid that will finish his blocks until a whistle is blown, and maintains a consistent pad-level. Love watching his efficiency on how he works his angles no matter where he lines up on the Lakers offensive line. I like Aiden as an FCS prospect when it’s all said and done.
Riley Peters | Pequot Lakes | 2024
Riley put up some solid testing numbers that I got to watch show off early. The juice Riley brings off the snap is violent to say the least and provides massive aggression looking like a downhill offensive tackle. His ability to accumulate many significant blocking skillsets thrown into less than a one minute highlight tape is a strong look in my eyes as there is so much untapped talent for Riley to blossom as an under the radar junior to be. I expect to see a lot more from Riley in 2022 and I would be willing to bet this kid will be playing on Saturdays as his sophomore tape graded high on my end with the amount of quality reps he showed for the duration it had.
