Continue ReadingLast time, we took a look at five defensive ends that have shown that they are some of the best defensive players to play the game. The next five that I am going to name has also proven that they are the cream of the crop in the city at the defensive end position. These young men has what it takes to play with the best and have a huge impact on their teams. Let’s analyze why these next five players deserve to be on this list of excellent company!
Javon Adams- 6’4 300Ibs/DT/ Sam Houston High School
Analysis: Javon Adams is a sleeper player that has to be accounted for on defense. He is a solid 300 pounds on the front line and moves centers like they are toys. Adams possesses excellent strength, and he does a very good job plowing over offensive linemen. He is good at making tackles or losses and sacks, and he plays physical each and every down! Even though he is an under the radar player, he has shown potential that can increase the more he plays!
Jude Villareal- 6’1 220Ibs/DE/ Taft High School
Analysis: Jude Villareal has proven his worth on the field. He has racked up 59 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 1 forced fumble. This young man has good explosion at the snap of the ball. He is also a good tackler and has good pass rushing skills. Villareal has shown quickness and explosion and plays physical with a high motor! Even though he is undersized, do not sleep on him because he can make you pay! He has good speed and does a great job at setting the edge! Look for this young man in this future.
Michael Flores- 6’2 230Ibs/DE/ Brennan High School
Analysis: Michael Flores is a top talented defensive end as well. Flores has good get off speed. He has great strength while playing in the trenches. Also, he has shown that he can make good tackles. Even tough he is not the fastest , he makes sure he is in the back field making plays! Flores will only improve with more training. Look for him to catch the attention of college coaches and scouts next year.
Jay Simmons- 6’3 220Ibs/ DE/ San Marcos High School
Analysis: Jay Simmons is an extremely good defensive end. He is really fast off of the edge, and gets to the quarterback in a flash! He has a high motor, hits hard, and does an excellent job at using his hands and arms to rip and run through blocks. He possesses great gap discipline as well and is not easily fooled. Simmons also has good strength which allows him to take on blocks and shed them. Jay Simmons is on pace to have a superb senior season as well!
Carmelo Walley Carmelo Walley 6'2" | 295 lbs | DL Reagan | 2023 State TX – 6’2 295Ibs/DT/ Ronald Reagan High School
Analysis: Carmelo Walley Carmelo Walley 6'2" | 295 lbs | DL Reagan | 2023 State TX was a 1st team All-District player last year. Walley was also a 2 time All-Area player! He has shown great skill off of the snap showing his prowess and tremendous spin ability to get off of blocks. This young man is the anchor of the defensive line for his team. When it comes to stopping the run, he is up their in the conversation with the elite defensive tackles of the state. He takes on blocks extremely well and helps his defense feast on making plays in the backfield. Walley plays with good technique driving his feet, and staying low. Cameron Walley does a good job at using his long arms and hands to bully offensive linemen as well. Moving forward, look for him to make some noise as well!
