Chancellor Barron Chancellor Barron 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Mendenhall | 2023 State MS  Ι 2023 Ι ATH Ι Mendenhall HSÂ
Head-hunter, thumper, twitched-up, explosive… Awareness:10/10, Instincts: 10/10, Play-Making:10/10… These are a few adjectives and attributes that I would collectively use to describe 2023 SS Chancellor Barron Chancellor Barron 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Mendenhall | 2023 State MS . I have heard, multiple times, Chance Barron being referred to as one of the best 2023 defensive players in the state of Mississippi. After reflecting on what I witnessed from viewing his tape from last year, I am not sure if I can disagree with those sentiments. Chance Barron is listed as a SS/RB, but I have listed him as an ATH for several reasons. One of the most potent being that I have seen tape of this kid at safety, nickle, inside linebacker, outside linebacker, and running back. Barron is a natural born defender that hunts the football each and every defensive snap that he participates in. Not only does he have exceptional ball skills, but this kid closes out on the football with a reckless abandon that is efficacious in securing the ball-carrier at an incredibly successful rate. Chance possesses the incredible capability of striking larger defenders that attempt to block him, while simultaneously making tackles on the ball carrier. The physical nature of his game along with the ability that he displays athletically would lead me to assume that Chance would play star or nickle-back on the next level. If you have failed to hear the name Chancellor Barron Chancellor Barron 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Mendenhall | 2023 State MS before today, I am grateful that I was able to award you the opportunity of that today. I enjoyed watching his tape, and the infectious manner that he approaches the game with. Be on the lookout for this student athlete in the next year!
Javen Mallett Ι 2024 Ι LB/FB Ι Kosciusko HSÂ
Javen Mallet is a 6’0, 215lb Linebacker that has amazing upside as a 2024 prospect. He has great size and strength to be a 16 year old Sophomore student-athlete. Javen is always around the football and constantly seeking out ways to make plays for the Kosi Whippet defense. As a force in the middle of that defense, Mallett possesses a natural nose for the football and it shows from the tendencies that he displays on his tape. Mallett uses his instincts and strength to stifle on coming blockers. He excels in using his hands to attack offensive linemen with great technique and force to shed blocks and make plays on the football. Javen is good at reading and reacting to what plays out infront of him. He always finds a way through the traffic produced by guys in the trenches. This kid sifts through the trash to make plays similar to linebackers whom are already on the next level. He is a young prospect who shows flashes of being a great talent! Not to mention, he plays on both sides of the ball. His offensive roll is the enforcer, as a fullback, where he is also an immense load to deal with as well. Lookout for Javen Mallett this coming season, as he looks to turn heads.Â
Tyree Bridges Ι 2023 Ι OLB/SS Ι Mendenhall HSÂ
The Sarge is a 2023 defensive prospect that plays the game with incredible level of intensity and lazer-type focus. This is an attribute that you love to see from any high school recruit. Tyree is a technically sound football player that is smart and coach-able enough to play on all three levels of the defense. He has film at outside linebacker and strong safety, and his tape reflects an athlete that would play the star position or nickle-backer. Bridges is strong and assertive enough to play around the football and in the trenches, but he is also athletically gifted enough to line up and hold his own in coverage and/or out in space. His primary position is OLB, where he uses sound leverage and technique to set the edge for Mendenhall’s defensive front. Tyree plays with a low center of gravity, and this allows him to out-leverage oncoming blockers. Sarge uses this sound approach to attack larger or smaller opponents, and turn ball-carriers back inside to where the majority of his help is trailing to make the defensive stop. With all of this being said, strange enough, there is another layer to this guy’s game. His tape also displayed his ability to effect the passer as an edge rusher. Sarge possesses the strength and skill-set to be a mismatch for lethargic offensive tackles who try to impede his rush. Overall, what impressed me the most from his tape was the effectiveness of his play at each position on every level he was placed at.
RJ Hall Ι 2024 Ι S/CB Ι Copiah Academy
Mr.Hall is 5’9, 2024 DB out of Copiah Academy. RJ is a prospect that constantly finds ways to play larger than what an athlete with his frame would normally allow. His film unveiled the innate ability he has in knowing how to judge the football in the air. RJ’s anticipation and ball skills are extremely polished for a 2024, and this anticipation allows him to make several plays where he plays the ball through the receivers hands. Though he has a slight build, the talented sophomore also exhibited that he can be an effective contributor in run support for his defense last year. Whether he was at the safety or corner spot, RJ would not hesitate to run in and quickly stifle ball carriers when need be. As a sophomore that seen playing time split between the safety and corner positions, this kid notched 12+ PBU’s and 20+ tackles. RJ Hall is a student-athlete that will not only grow in stature over time, but he will also blossom into an exceptional football player. His junior campaign will likely warrant him the honor of yielding added playing time. He earned great experience in the form of on the field action this past year. RJ Hall’s game this fall will be filled with plenty more of the same of what was shown on last year’s tape. A bevvy head-turning defensive play’s in execution such as: explosive tackles, pass break-ups and interceptions.
