One of these guys is underrated because few know about the amazing offseason he’s been having, one is underrated because of his program being lesser-known, and another is underrated because of a team-wide down year last season. Now, check out a few receivers who are sneaky-good from the class of 2023!
Brody Thompson Brody Thompson 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Rockford | 2023 MI – Rockford
Rockford is not short of talent, as they’re one of the best and brightest D1 programs year after year. When Rockford is talked about, most of the hype has surrounded Mac VandenHout Mac VandenHout 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Rockford | 2023 State MI and Alex McLean Alex McLean 5'7" | 165 lbs | WR Rockford | 2023 State MI , but I promise you many athletes on this team will impress. One of those athletes is WR Brody Thompson Brody Thompson 6'1" | 195 lbs | WR Rockford | 2023 MI , who has had an offseason full of competition and very intense workouts. He’s a pure athlete putting in the work to make sure he’s performing at his peak.
Brady Niedzwiecki Brady Niedzwiecki 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Alpena | 2023 MI – Alpena
There’s some excellent talent in Northern Michigan that few are aware of! Alpena is a team that has a few good pieces with Underrated Quarterback Jake Zann Jake Zann 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Alpena | 2024 State MI and Underrated Wide Receiver Brady Niedzwiecki Brady Niedzwiecki 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Alpena | 2023 MI . Now for Niedzwiecki, he’s a receiver with great chemistry with Zann, and he’s a guy utilized in space a ton. What I mean by this is that Niedzwiecki is sent out on many screens, hitches, and slants that he can sometimes break for big yardage. He also flashes great hands, having snagged some high passes. I can see Niedzwiecki dominating this season as long as he’s had a great offseason.
Jaylen Vinton – Mona Shores
A very speedy receiver on a state championship-caliber team, Jaylen Vinton, will play a significant role in the Sailor offense. Vinton was good this past season, but I expect him and Mona Shores as a whole to step up in a substantial way. The Mona Shores Quarterback situation is not one I’m familiar with, and there are currently no clear names for that position. Though this is one of the best-coached teams in the state, and Jaylen Vinton is hands down one of the best athletes in the entire class. Expect big numbers on both sides of the ball for the Senior.
