When the state of Arkansas has prospects playing in the tournament that makes it even sweeter. Day one of the tournament has been an impressive one for numerous prospects in the Arkansas Elite 100 team. We are going to look at some prospects having a strong to the Battle for New Orleans tournament.
Barrett Mehrabi Barrett Mehrabi 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Little Rock Christian Academy | 2026 State AR -Wide Receiver-Pulaski Academy-2026
To the surprise of absolutely no one that follows high school football in Arkansas, the Pulaski Academy Bruins have another talented wide receiver coming up through the ranks. Mehrabi can work effectively going over the middle and hauling in tough receptions. He is one of those wide receivers that runs crisp routes and gives opposing defensive backs plenty of headaches. Mehrabi is a prospect that I am excited to see more of over the next few years.
TJ Lindsey TJ Lindsey 6'5" | 260 lbs | DL Bryant | 2024 FL -Defensive Line-Bryant-2024
Over the years, how versatile a player is has become a trait to keep an eye out for. Lindsey has put on a show in New Orleans this weekend. He has displayed tremendous hands and good speed. Lindsey has impressive speed, and he is someone that is going to cause plenty of problems for opposing offensive lines this coming season. Lindsey has displayed plenty of pass catching ability on the offensive side of the ball and his versatility is going to be a trait to watch as the offseason continues.
Aydan Easter Aydan Easter 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Lake Hamilton | 2023 State AR -Defensive Back-Lake Hamilton-2023
Easter has strung together several great performances over the past few tournaments, and he is off to a great start in New Orleans. Easter has locked down opposing wide receivers in the first of action in the Battle for New Orleans. He was able to pick off a pass in action this afternoon. Easter continues to show he has the hands to take passes the opposite direction. Opposing wide receivers are going to have to figure out a way to shake the talented defensive back or Easter will pick off plenty of passes in 2022.
Mytorian Singleton Mytorian Singleton 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Bryant | 2024 State AR -Wide Receiver-Bryant-2024
The Bryant wide receiver has exploded this offseason. He has excellent performances at numerous 7-on-7 tournaments this offseason. The combination of the speed and route running that Singleton has is extremely rare. He lit up opposing defenses on the first day of the Battle of New Orleans tournament. Singleton made great plays all throughout the state playoffs last season, so it is not coming as a shock he has emerged as one of the most talented wide receivers in the state of Arkansas.
Tony Wilkins Tony Wilkins 5'9" | 170 lbs | ATH North Little Rock | 2025 State AR -Wide Receiver-North Little Rock-2025
Wilkins is doing a fantastic job of displaying his incredible versatility on the first day of the tournament. Wilkins has made plays at the linebacker spot and at the wide receiver position. Wilkin’s speed is impressive, and he can make plays on the ball that opposing offenses do not expect him to make. On the offensive side of the ball, he is able to use his speed to create separation from opposing defensive backs. Wilkins has the potential to have a big year for the Charging Wildcats in 2022.
Anton Pierce Anton Pierce 6'3" | 205 lbs | DB Little Rock Mills | 2023 State AR -Defensive Back-Little Rock Mills-2023
On the first day, of the Battle for New Orleans tournament, Anton Pierce Anton Pierce 6'3" | 205 lbs | DB Little Rock Mills | 2023 State AR has terrorized opposing wide receivers. Pierce is a lockdown defensive back that opposing quarterbacks like to avoid. Throwing at Pierce results in bad things happening for the opposing offense. Pierce is either going to pick off the pass or simply bat the ball away. He has the talent to have an extremely strong 2022 season and I look for his impressive offseason to continue.
Chris Gannaway Chris Gannaway 5'10" | 175 lbs | RB Bryant | 2023 State AR -Running Back-Bryant-2023
Many in the state of Arkansas already knew that Gannaway can rush the ball between the tackles or cut it to the outside. However, over the past few weeks he has displayed the talent of catching the ball out of the backfield. Gannaway can also be split out wide to terrorize an opposing defensive back or linebacker. He was difficult for opposing defenses on the first day of the Battle of New Orleans and that is a trend that should continue. Look for an extremely strong 2022 football season from the Bryant running back.
Carter McElhany Carter McElhany 5'7" | 155 lbs | WR Greenbrier | 2023 State AR -Wide Receiver-Greenbrier-2023
The Greenbrier wide receiver uses his combination of speed and route running to keep opposing defensive backs on their heels. McElhany has shown that he can catch the ball whether aligned in the slot or split out wide. He has great hands and is just a nightmare for opposing defenses to account for at the wide receiver position. McElhany is setting the stage for a massive 2022 season and is a prospect that I expect to continue to have a strong season. Greenbrier opponents are going to have a tough time attempting to cover this talented receiver.
