Today we analyzed the top seniors that displayed excellent ball skills in 2021. Every prospect listed accounted for at least four interceptions last fall and could see their production take an even bigger jump in 2022. Two prospects featured (Jayden Lewis & Logan Reaska) have received scholarship offers up to this point. With plenty of time left this spring, don’t be shocked if the other prospects featured garner new interest from schools in the very near future. With that being said, here are the state’s top senior ballhawks!
Cade Anastasia, 6’3″, 170, Olean
A lengthy free-safety prospect that sees the quarterback well. Cade is quite rangy and can close a ton of ground when the ball is in the air. He plays a confident brand of football and isn’t afraid to step up in front of a target & jump a route to take it the other way.
Logan Reaska, 6’5″, 200, St. Francis
Logan played a ton last fall as a rolled-up strong-safety in the slot. I was shocked how loose-hipped he was for a man his size. He showed great instincts, compact feet, and the ability to turn an interception into six points. This kid is so versatile and could potentially play three different positions at the next level.
Jayden Lewis, 6’, 190, Bennett
The most highly touted recruit on here, and if you turn on the tape, you’ll see why. In 2021 he accounted for a mind-boggling twelve interceptions! This is a playmaker that is sticky in man, shows calm feet, and will high point the football. He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands and, by my count, totaled seven pick-sixes last fall!
Luis Garcia Jr Luis Garcia Jr 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Kennedy Catholic | 2023 NY ., 6’2″, 170, Kennedy Catholic
A tall cornerback that uses his body to shield away receivers to help win on the 50/50 ball. Luis reads route concepts well and will see through the number two receiver in the slot. He stays over the top in zone coverage and has awfully long arms that he uses to swat the ball away when the time calls for it.
Conor Fitzgibbon, 6’, 175, Monroe-Woodbury
A free safety with phenomenal burst and acceleration out of his breaks. Once he’s out of his pedal, he’ll run to the receivers near hip and won’t look back towards the quarterback unless he’s in phase. Conor is even a noteworthy return man who can help flip the field on kick-off or punt returns.
