I've had the pleasure of attending plenty of the premiere 7-on-7 tournaments this spring and now the Rivals New Orleans Camp Tour hosted at Destrehan High School today. The Rivals Camp Series brings the state and surrounding area's top talent along with some hidden gems that get an opportunity to flourish in a competitive environment. Having the right set of eyes on a prospect can be monumental for a student-athlete's football career and immediately bolster his recruiting profile. We will now dive into some of today's standouts. [player_tooltip player_id="285197" first="Jay'Shaun" last="Johnson"]- 5'11, 170/ATH-Franklin Senior HS (2024) This Rising Junior Prospect has seen his recruitment take off in the last few weeks after his team's basketball season has ended and playing on the 7-on-7 Circuit with the Louisiana Bootleggers after a stellar sophomore campaign. The University of Incarnate Word's Safeties Coach Dexter McCoil extended an offer on March 18th after locking Elite WRs down at the Battle New Orleans Tournament and that was followed up with a Power 5 offer from Mississippi State's Running Backs Coach Jason Washington on March 24th. Johnson was smooth during drill work today catching the ball away from his body and displaying above-average ball skills. [player_tooltip player_id="285197" first="Jay'Shaun" last="Johnson"] won the majority of his one-on-one reps and looked smooth coming in and out of breaks. When you turn on this kid's sophomore tape it is eye-popping and makes you want to watch more and more. He lines up at WR, Safety, & Corner, and his playmaking ability sticks out. Johnson has elite ball skills and shows the range and a high football IQ at defensive back. If he gets his hands on the ball on the defensive side it's almost a guaranteed house call. On offense, you just have to put the ball in this playmaker's hands. He displays a noticeable burst on film and adequate movement skills. [player_tooltip player_id="145357" first="Lennis" last="Finister"] Jr.- 6'0, 172/CB-Archbishop Rummel HS (2025) Mr. Finister is what you call special. Displaying solid technique and competing at a high level during 1-on-1 and defensive backs drills today, This kid never panics when out of phase and never lacks confidence. Lennis took rep after rep and didn't flinch with whomever lined up against him. [player_tooltip player_id="145357" first="Lennis" last="Finister"] will be a prospect to keep an eye on in years to come. Finister is ahead of the learning curve with a year of varsity football under his belt as a freshmen. I will be looking forward to seeing Lennis as a sophomore getting his hand on more footballs in the secondary. He is also a willing tackler and displays adequate short area quickness. [player_tooltip player_id="145357" first="Lennis" last="Finister"] also competes in track and field during the off-season and has suited up for Bootleggers SWLA 18U Squad during this Spring. Finister will have Power 5 schools knocking the door down for his services soon enough. [player_tooltip player_id="138440" first="Harvey" last="Broussard"] III- 6'4, 175/WR-St. Martinville Senior HS (2023) [player_tooltip player_id="138440" first="Harvey" last="Broussard"] looked really good in drill work today and going through the gauntlet. Everyone didn't get to see his full arsenal of athleticism displayed today because of some misfires, but just turn on the junior tape and it is a treat. Harvey has been dominating the 7-on-7 circuit week after week with Louisiana Bootleggers National Team. The big Power 5 programs are making a push for the long athletic pass catcher. Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin who is an offensive guru extended an offer to Broussard a day ago after an unofficial visit by the Rising Senior to Oxford, MS. With [player_tooltip player_id="138440" first="Harvey" last="Broussard"]'s length, speed, and high flying ability that came from his basketball background we will be watching for the next intangible he adds to his game for this upcoming LHSAA football season. [player_tooltip player_id="263770" first="Traville" last="Frederick Jr"].-6'3, 210/TE-Jeanerette Senior HS (2024) Traville Frederick is a intriguing prospect to say the least. He has above average movement skills for a TE his size and age. Frederick is a hands catcher and his high school flexes him out by the numbers to create mismatches on smaller defenders. Traville Frederick looked really good during drill work at the Rivals New Orleans Camp. Has a huge catch radius and can snap down on routes and get in and out breaks with ease. Frederick showed a willingness to block on his sophomore film and schools are looking forward to his junior season to see more in line blocking. Frederick comes from a big time pedigree of athletes in his family including his mother who is 6'4 and was a high school All-American and played for Louisiana State University. A couple of his uncles played in the NFL as well. Look for this Rising Junior to have a breakout season come this fall. Frederick also excels in basketball and baseball. [player_tooltip player_id="263770" first="Traville" last="Frederick Jr"]. Bootleggers SWLA (Futures) 18U Highlights- https://youtu.be/OWphXzgr-H4 [player_tooltip player_id="188943" first="Ashton" last="Stamps"]-6'2, 185/DB-Archbishop Rummel HS This kid locked down wideout after wideout today. [player_tooltip player_id="188943" first="Ashton" last="Stamps"] is a flat out dog. From his smooth back pedal and elite movement skills, Stamps was able to mirror receivers and run the route for them. As the camp went on he gained more and more confidence. When [player_tooltip player_id="188943" first="Ashton" last="Stamps"] truly learns eye discipline, there won't be too many balls being caught on him. The kid had everyone excited the way he competed out there today and that energy is infectious to teammates. You can check out [player_tooltip player_id="188943" first="Ashton" last="Stamps"] locking down wideouts this spring on the 7-on-7 Circuit with the Justin Jefferson newly owned Nola Hotboys.
