It is imperative to be able to line it up and gain a first down even when the defense knows that the offense has to pass the ball. These edge protectors are the few that have stood out and have been making a name for themselves early.
Trevor Goosby – Melissa High school – Class of 2023
Trevor is a 6’7 280 pound recruit out of Melissa high school that has the prototypical length and range that scouts covet in a tackle. He’s a lean athlete with a great frame that can easily hold well over 315 pounds. He has a good kick set, nice posture, and a bevy of offers from virtually everywhere in the county. He is a versatile prospect that will be exciting to watch throughout the camp circuit.
Markis Deal Markis Deal 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Naaman Forest | 2023 State TX – Naaman Forest High School- Class of 2023
Markis is a technically sound and rangy athlete that can play either tackle or defensive line at a high level. At 6’6 290 pounds, I believe he is best suited as a tackle long term due to his intangibles and smooth kick set. From watching his development from afar he looks even leaner than he was last season. All of the blue blood programs around the country have taken notice and it will be interesting to see where he decides to commit to.
Caleb Hackleman – Pleasant Grove High school – Class of 2024
Caleb is a 6’5 270 pound tackle that has impressed me early this spring with his hip mobility and position versatility. He has a long frame, good posture and is poised for a huge summer. He has the ideal length, foot speed, and size of a D1 tackle but has shown the range to play on the interior as well. At 270 pounds he is still very lean and has a bunch of room on his frame that he will fill in over time. He is going to be a national recruit and he holds an early offer from Texas Tech. I’m excited to see how he does on the camp circuit this summer.
Qua Davis – Lewisville High School – Class of 2023
Measuring in at 6’8 weighing over 320 pounds Qua is a high major offensive tackle with a huge ceiling. Qua stood out a lot to me on tape this past fall and has great job developing his game. He has shown noticeable improvement in his bend, strike and movement skills. He has quick feet, good hand usage and will be a huge cog in the Famers success next season.
