He is the type of player that is involved in every play. He is physical when defending both the run and pass and excellent in man coverage. Being a two-way player gives him the ability to read a receiver’s route and know what is coming. He has the qualities of a great teammate and team leader. Shepherd will continue to turn heads in 2022.
Denym Mitchell | 6’0″ DB | Jackson Academy
Mitchell is 6’0″ tall and 165 lbs; Mitchell had a break-out year in 2021 by leading the Raiders in interceptions. He is the true definition of a lockdown cornerback. He was able to take advantage of opposing quarterbacks by having excellent eye discipline and flash-like closing speed on the ball. In 2022 Mitchell will have the opportunity to showcase his talents by playing against the best QBs the MAIS has to offer.
Stank King | 5’10″ DB | St Joseph Catholic School
King is 5’10″ tall and 170 lbs; 2021 was a year to remember for King on both sides of the ball. He finished the 2021 season as the Irish’s leading receiver and had a standout year defensively, finishing with 42 tackles and three interceptions. King is exceptional in both man and zone coverage. He can force opposing quarterbacks to make the wrong read and try to force the ball down the field. King is a special player who will give the Irish an opportunity to compete for the State championship in 2022.
CJ Moore | 6’1″ DB | St Joseph Catholic School
Moore is 6’1″ tall and 184 lbs; Moore is the heart and soul of St Joseph Catholic School football. His playmaking ability is the best in high school football. He is the quarterback of an explosive offense and a member of the best defense in the MAIS. He is a lockdown defensive back that can use his knowledge of playing QB to his advantage while playing on the defensive side of the ball. He is one of the best at jumping a route and creating a turnover. Moore’s stock is going to soar in 2022.
Jonathan Latham | 5’10″ DB | MRA
Latham is 5’10″ tall and 185 lbs; Latham had a solid Sophomore campaign finishing the 2021 season with 54 tackles and two interceptions.
