Nathaniel Walker | 6’0″ LB | Amory Highschool
Walker is 6’0″ tall and 172 lbs; Walker had an outstanding 2021 season finishing with 118 tackles, nineteen tackles for loss, and seven sacks. The strength of Walker’s game is his physicality, quickness, and ability to tackle in the open field. He plays with a textbook technique that allows him to be at the right spot at the right time. With another year of development, Walker has the talent to be the top linebacker in his class in 2024.
Avondre Robinson | 5’10″ DT | Copiah Academy
Robinson is 5’10” tall and 232 lbs; In 2021, Robinson played a significant role in helping Copiah Academy reach the state championship game. He is the anchor of what will be one of the best defensive lines in the MAIS returning in 2022. Robinson is at his best when he is defending the run. His first move off the snap is quick and powerful, making him a handful in the trenches for the opposing offensive line. If the Colonels plan on making a deep run in the playoffs in 2022, Robinson will play a significant role.
Kennedy Baker Kennedy Baker 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Ridgeland | 2023 State MS | 6’0″ LB | Ridgeland Highschool
Baker is 6’0″ tall and 225 lbs; Baker finished the 2021 campaign with 68 total tackles in 11 games. His top two performances in 2021 came against Northwest Rankin and Provine. In each of those games, Baker was able to record ten tackles. Baker has great eye discipline, which makes him a force to be reckoned with when playing zone coverage defending the pass. Offensive linemen have difficulty blocking him when he is defending the run because of his physicality. Baker’s physicality against the run makes him one of the top linebackers in the class of 2023.
Canye Bankston | 6’0″ DB | St. Stanislaus
Bankston is 6’0″ tall and 172 lbs; He is the true definition of a two-way player. Bankston’s speed is a significant part of his game, and his ability to run clean and precise routes while playing receiver gives him an edge when he is playing on the defensive side of the ball. He quickly recognizes different routes ran, allowing him to make big plays on defense. The Rock-a-Chaws are looking to have a breakout year in 2022, and for that to happen, Bankston will play a significant role.
