Prep Redzone Louisiana reached out to coaches and managers around the state for a few of their top players to watch in the first month or so of action.
Here are half a dozen from F3 Elite’s Team Juice — one of two 18U teams for the Baton Rouge-based organization that has come on strong since its inception three years ago. We’ll additionally highlight F3 Elite’s Team Stars this week.
Dezaray Delmore Jr. — 5-11, 170 DB — Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) (2023)
Cornerback Jordan Matthews Jordan Matthews 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Woodlawn (Baton Rouge) | 2023 State LA — a target of LSU, Alabama and many other prominent programs — was one of the program’s first 2023 prospects to explode on the recruiting trail last spring. And his high school teammate will be among the other defensive backs on the F3 roster likely to open some eyes this year. Delmore has decent speed and great instincts and intelligence for the game that quickly read, react and put himself in position to make impact plays on the ball. Hometown Southern extended his first scholarship offers from Southern in January and Grambling State in February.
Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'7" | 225 lbs | ATH Zachary | 2024 State LA — 6-7, 210 ATH — East Feliciana (2024)
The big multisport athlete has started to draw some recruiting interest from a few major programs the past few months with offers from Houston, LSU, Texas A&M, ULM, Purdue, Southern and Grambling State. But the next few months will be the first time many media members and college coaches will have the opportunity to see him in person, so the quantity of those offers could soon match the quality of the early suitors.
Kylin Jackson Kylin Jackson 6'3" | 195 lbs | DB Zachary | 2023 State LA — 6-3, 195 DB — Zachary (2023)
“Breakthrough” isn’t as accurate a word for Jackson as his counterparts on this list, as his recruiting profile is already more in line with Matthews and Catholic (Baton Rouge). wide receiver Shelton Sampson Shelton Sampson 6'4" | 185 lbs | WR Catholic (Baton Rouge) | 2023 State LA Jr. But the Zachary safety has been a steady riser since his debut as a talented, under-the-radar underclassman for F3’s first group two years ago as a freshman at East Feliciana, and his final high school offseason will be another chance to further showcase the work he’s put into his coverage and solidify his positioning among the pecking order of Louisiana’s top 2023 prospects.
David Jones David Jones 5'11" | 185 lbs | DB Madison Prep | 2023 State LA — 5-11, 185 DB — Madison Prep (2023)
Jones was one of the team’s better defensive backs last year and continuing building confidence and momentum into a great fall as a two-way playmaker for Madison Prep following the shoes of Major Burns, Joel Williams, Tyrell Raby and other predecessors. South Alabama and Nebraska extended his first scholarship offers in December. Southern, Missouri Valley and Florida A&M have followed, and more should be on the way.
Semaj Pierre — 5-7, 165 WR — Madison Prep (2025)
The youngster of this bunch is one of Louisiana’s most talented freshmen — a quick and athletic pass-catcher who benefitted from a nice growth spurt during the past year and was able to earn a first-year role in the Chargers’ offense this fall. This spring and summer will provide a wealth of valuable repetitions against and alongside elite talent from around the region and country as Pierre continues to develop.
Luke Wisham Luke Wisham 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Zachary | 2024 State LA — 6-2, 170 WR — Zachary (2024)
Another big receiver making his way up the ranks behind graduating Zachary and F3 standout Charles Robertson Charles Robertson 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Zachary | 2022 State LA . He is the younger brother of former Episcopal (Baton Rouge) running back and Army signee T.J. Wisham, now at Louisiana (Lafayette), and Zachary running back Connor Wisham Connor Wisham 6'0" | 180 lbs | RB Zachary | 2022 State LA , who signed with Prairie View A&M this year and has been hyped as having the highest ceiling of the bunch. Tulane extended an offer last summer, but he is still just scratching his way onto the recruiting radar.
