Ed Brooks (@ebrooks6ed) and myself (@whelms21) watch every piece of film sent to us or the Prep Redzone NC (@PrepRedzoneNC) Twitter account. In this offseason feature, we give our honest take on some of the players who have reached out.
If you missed Part 1, make sure to check it out.
Rhoen Breen, 6’5 220, Ath., 2024- Green Level
Breen is a physical freak that is still growing into his body but has a crazy amount of upside. He’s every bit or 6-foot-5, 220 and can run. As a tight end, he has good hands and can find the soft spot in the zone, but where he excels is on the defensive side of the ball. His long arms allow him to control blockers and get into running lanes. I’d like to see him show a bit more aggressiveness, especially as a pass rusher, but he has all the physical tools to make it at the next level.
Austin Cowick Austin Cowick 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Independence | 2023 State NC , 5’10 170, WR, 2023- Independence
In limited opportunities as a junior Cowick flashed some really impressive potential. Despite his slender stature, Cowick plays much like a bigger receiver, excelling at the catch point and rarely going down on first contact. He has a pretty solid release and high points the ball well. He didn’t catch many passes a season ago, but if he gets more opportunities as a senior, I really think he could put up some great numbers.
KeMarion Baldwin KeMarion Baldwin 5'10" | 215 lbs | RB St. Paul's | 2023 State NC , 5’9 215, RB, 2023- St. Pauls
Baldwin has been on our radar for a while and I even predicted a “big year” back in August. In hindsight, I think I undersold that as he put up over 2400 yards and 35 touchdowns. He’s probably the hardest back in the state to bring down and his top end speed is the only reason he doesn’t have Power Five offers galore. That being said, he can still run away from (or over) linebackers and his vision is excellent. He has visits to several bigger schools lined up this spring and he should begin to see his recruitment take off.
Cadyn Graves Cadyn Graves 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Scotland | 2023 NC , 6’1 180, WR, 2023- Scotland
Graves is a solid slot receiver for Scotland that can do a lot of things right. He accelerates quickly out of his breaks and after the catch, leading to a lot of big plays on shorter receptions. As a bigger slot receiver, he brings a lot to the offense by way of his combination of size and speed. He knows how to beat the press and can get open against zone. He’s slated to be at our Stock Up Showcase and we’re excited to see how he tests there.
Damonsdfa Bremer Damonsdfa Bremer 6'2" | 230 lbs | ATH Union Pines | 2023 NC , 6’2 220, DL, 2023- Union Pines
Bremer has a lot of strength and displays that from his defensive end position. He has great bull rush and rip moves and uses those to get into the backfield. he has enough speed to chase down ball carriers from behind and delivers big hits frequently. Union Pines uses him as its primary fullback and he displays a lot of strength on the offensive side of the ball as well. Whether he’s rushing the passer, running or blocking, his strength is evident and it’s a reason that he stands out on film.
