This week’s groups of submissions featured a ton of guys who will be featured in our next rankings update. We continue to come across great players here at PrepRedzone Mississippi. Check out this week’s group below:
Paxton Thompson | 2023 QB | Jackson Prep
Throwing for 26 TDs to 6 INTs, junior QB Paxton Thompson was one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the MAIS last season. Thompson stands at 6’0″ 180 with plenty of room to continue growing. The Jackson Prep product is an excellent pocket passer with the added benefit of being able to tuck the ball and take off for extra yardage. His throwing mechanics are solid, throwing off his back foot with a quick release. What stands out most about his game is his comfort in the pocket. Thompson does a great job at working up through the pocket as pressure gets to him and stands tall to deliver strikes downfield. He is accurate on all levels of the field, but thrives throwing vertically breaking routes. Thompson has natural arm strength to him and gets a lot of juice under each pass he throws. Extremely talented passer who is currently undervalued in recruiting circles. Look for him to rise in our next rankings update.
DeQuarious White DeQuarious White 6'4" | 320 lbs | OL Holmes County | 2023 State MS | 2023 OL | Holmes County
At 6’3″ 330, DeQuarious White DeQuarious White 6'4" | 320 lbs | OL Holmes County | 2023 State MS is a massive junior on a very talented Holmes County offensive line. Although he is as big as he is, White is an absolute athlete. He moves well on pulls and in space and flashes quick feet in pass protection. White has natural strength to him that allows him to bully opposing defensive linemen in his path. As a run blocker, White does a great job at getting to the next level and clearing running lanes for his back. He plays with a violent chip on his shoulder, finishing every single block through the whistle. White anchors well and shows the ability that college coaches love in their guards. As a pass protector, White takes on ends and backers well and uses a strong first punch to slow their rush. Really talented offensive line prospect that already holds offers from Jackson State, Grambling State, and multiple instate JuCos.
Skylar Husband Skylar Husband 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Petal | 2024 State MS | 2024 DB | Richton
A two way player at wide receiver and defensive back, Skylar Husband Skylar Husband 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Petal | 2024 State MS stands at 6’1″ 165. Although he plays both ways and produces on both sides of the ball, Husband projects as a defensive back at the next level. Last season, he totaled 55 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 4 INTs on defense and 215 yards and 5 scores on offense. Husband is a natural athlete with great length and ball skills. He plays well in both man and zone coverage and shows great ability to stick his foot in the ground and transition. When the ball is in the air, Husband does a great job at getting up for the football and using his length to break up passes. As a tackler, Husband is not afraid of contact. He will come down and make a great form tackle on the ball carrier when the ball comes outside. High potential for the young defensive back. Look for him to start drawing interest soon from colleges.
Noah Classen | 2024 LB | Sumrall
A standout linebacker from Sumrall High School, Noah Classen stands at 6’1″ 210 as a sophomore. Last season, the rising backer totaled a whopping 118 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. Classen can play either inside or outside backer due to his length and growth potential and was a key playmaker last season. Against the run, he does a great job at getting off blocks and taking a good path to the ball carrier. He is naturally strong and tough, showing great physicality in the box. A form tackler, Classen rarely misses the ball carrier and can deliver big blows when needed. Against the pass, Classen shows the ability to play zone coverage well and blitz the quarterback. He runs well sideline to sideline and has good overall athleticism. Great young player with a ton of potential ahead.
Curdarrious Bullock | 2025 RB | Hernando
Starting at running back as a freshman, Curdarrious Bullock flashed special ability last year. Bullock is a tough young back with great contact balance and solid speed at the second level. He reads his blocks well and sets himself up for a good gain every time he touches the ball. In the open field, he can make people miss or run straight over them. Bullock has a violent stiff arm move that should be absolutely lethal by his senior season. As great of a runner as he is, Bullock also shows great value in the passing game. He catches swing passes out of the backfield and can produce after the catch. Great potential for this guy to be a big time player by his senior year. Will be a riser in our next 2025 rankings update.
