Some of these guys are not receiving the accolades that they deserve, some are not receiving offers yet, and others simply are not being talked about enough for the work that they are putting in on the field.
Jaden Gordon | 5’10’’ 170lbs | New Town High School | Athlete | Class of 2023
Gordon is one of the more underrated athletes in the state of Maryland. He is an explosive slot receiver who has the ability to stretch defenses as a deep threat or take a 2 yard slant to the house. The Titans junior athlete is also a a solid athlete in the defensive backfield and as quick feet, great ball skills, and closing speed to break on routes. He has the ability to contribute in all 3 phases of the game, including special teams where he is dangerous as a returner. Gordon was named to the All Baltimore County Team last year as a sophomore, and has a 3.96 GPA in the classroom.
Octavyon Applewhaite | 5’9’’ 185 lbs | Mervo High School | Running Back | Class of 2023
Applewhaite is a powerful back who runs with a low center of gravity. He has a good vision, patience, and a knack for making the 1st defender miss. He played an instrumental part in helping the Mustangs win the 3A/ 4A State Championship this past fall. The Mervo junior split carriers in one of the state’s most loaded backfields, but still managed to amount for 456 yards, 4 touchdowns, and averaged about 7 yards per carry.
Steven Robinson | 5’8’’ 195 lbs | Joppatowne High School | Running Back | Class of 2023
Robinson carried the workload for Joppatowne this past season. He was one of the most dominant players in his county and rightfully was named All Harford County First Team. Robinson was a force on both sides of the ball and counted for 1,300 all purpose yards on offense, along with tallying 100 tackles on defense.
Aiden Dixon Aiden Dixon 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Fallston | 2023 State MD | 5’11’’ 175 lbs | Fallston High School | Dual Threat Quarterback | Class of 2023
Dixon isn’t flying far under that radar, but I don’t think he’s as well known as he should be. He is the 3rd rank Quarterback in the state the 35th ranked overall player within the state. He earned First Team All Harford County honors and was named 1A/ 2A Player of the Year. The Fallston Team Captain threw for 2,549 yards, 26 touchdowns, ran for 1,347 yards, and averaged over 9 yards per carry this past fall.
Rushaun Tongue Rushaun Tongue 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Chesapeake | 2023 State MD | 6’1’’ 175 lbs | Chesapeake (AA) High School | Defensive Back | Class of 2023
Tongue may be considered the most overqualified for a “sleeper” list, but 7th ranked DB in the state has some impressive play that deserves more recognition. This rangy Db made plays all season when it counted and was a big part of Chesapeake’s playoff run. He earned All County offers, and is starting to get the attention of many college coaches. He already has offers from the University of Indiana, Maryland, Duke, Virginia Tech, UConn, Delaware, Wake Forest, James Madison, The Naval Academy, and Temple University.
