Continue ReadingWe took another trip to ETS Performance in Richfield to watch some more quarterbacks that are developing their game with 612 Qs led by Augsburg/Itasca CC alum and Austria professional football QB, Quinn Frisell. Some of these young men I watched in the last session, so I was able to compare their development levels from that point of time to the present. There were also some new names I had not watched yet but have watched plenty of tape on, so it was a great to get a live look at them. Learn about which five prospects balled out in the 7:45 am sessions from this weekend.
Cooper Drews Cooper Drews 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Princeton | 2023 State MN | Princeton | 2023
Cooper showed a ton of natural athleticism with both his mechanics and ball throwing ability, something he showed very well at our Prep Redzone Minnesota Showcase this winter. He also showed a strong hip-flex in the early session and worked thru his reps quickly yet smoothly. Cooper shows off better elusiveness than you would expect for his frame. What else do I love about this young man? After getting the Princeton Tigers into the state basketball tournament on Friday night, he showed excellent determination to get back into the gym (for football) in the earliest session in Richfield with 612 Qs on Saturday morning. Cooper shows off a very strong release and certainly has the Division I level size at the QB position (6’4). At this time Cooper is keeping all options open as far as the next level, whether it will be on the gridiron or the hardwood.
Tanner Gangl Tanner Gangl 5'11" | 190 lbs | QB Spectrum | 2023 State MN | Spectrum | 2023
Tanner was a QB prospect I got to watch in person this 2021 season, and I loved seeing his improvement 6 months out from when I watched him last. The reason why Tanner is able to put together a quick release with a strong finished throw is due to watching how swiftly he can rotate his shoulders that I watched in the early drills. Finishing his throws the way he does also show an excellent amount of ball placement in which he put on full display in Richfield yesterday. This young man is the definition of a workhorse, as I look forward to see where his game brings him this summer at prospect camps, as he certainly has the tools to play at the next level.
Gavin Knutson Gavin Knutson 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB White Bear Lake | 2023 State MN | White Bear Lake | 2023
Gavin to me, looked to be like one of the most improved QB prospects I watched from the last session to this session. The best word to describe Gavin’s development would be smooth. His progressions from start to finish were described that way along with improved balance with his footwork when working thru the pocket drills. The finished product of his throws were also very solid as one of two White Bear Lake Bears competing in his first session.
Max Erb | Edina | 2025
Max was another prospect in this sessions that I saw a strong amount of development from my first session watching 612 Qs. I noticed it most with his touch throws on intermediate routes. Max is another prospect that has dedicated a ton of time with working on his footwork and I saw a significant improvement on that front. He also showed more speed thru his rotations than from what I witnessed in the first session I watched a couple months ago in Richfield. I am excited to see how this young man progresses at our Prep Redzone Minnesota showcase at the end of April.
Cole Gerrell Cole Gerrell 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Forest Lake | 2024 MN | White Bear Lake | 2024
Cole showed a ton more zip on the football from when I watched him at our Prep Redzone Minnesota showcase. This young man has also mobile footwork that will pay off some divends by being able to release the football outside of the pocket. Cole showed off some considerable mechanics and showed a significant finish of his throws from the reps I watched on Saturday. With some added time in the weight room and likely an upcoming growth spurt, Cole should be a solid prospect for the Bears over the coming years, putting them with great potential at the QB position in the near future.
Caden Rodkewich Caden Rodkewich 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB St Anthony | 2023 State MN | St. Anthony Village | 2023
Caden was one of the most impressive QB prospects at the 7:45 sessions on Saturday morning in my eyes. His persistence was what stuck out most. His footwork showed excellent continuation and from what I could see improved from the start of the session to the end of the session. He also showed one of the best postures from the group as he progressed thru his motions all the way thru. Caden consistently was money on his ball placement on Saturday morning. If I had to dish out an MVP from the 7:45 session, Caden would for sure get one of my nods based on his performance. Looking forward to watching this young man now that sessions are going outside and prospect camps are within reach this summer.
