In this article, we will look at a couple of more names to look for this season! They are going to make a huge impact for their teams this fall, and you will not want to miss out on the action. Lets take a look at some of the young talent brewing around the city, and why they have cracked the list of the top sleeper players in the area!
6. Darion Brown Darion Brown 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Davenport | 2023 State TX – 5’10 150Ibs/DB,WR/ Davenport High School
Analysis: Darion Brown Darion Brown 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Davenport | 2023 State TX possesses decent height while a little underweight, but that can easily be fixed in the future He has good speed and is a hard hitting tackler in open space. He is not afraid of contact either! Also, he has very good read and react ability which allows him to make plays on defense in the passing or run game. He plays both sides of the ball as well, so you can use him when you need to. Next, he is good in man coverage while having good technique in his back peddles and use of hands. His good ball locating skills is superb which allows him to be a major asset on defense.
7. Daniel Salinas III- 5’10 150Ibs/DB,WR/ Somerset High School
Analysis: Daniel Salinas is another player to look out for this upcoming season. He has great jump ball ability on while playing corner or wide receiver, which can definitely help in crunch time! When it comes to defense, he is also aggressive when making a tackle. He is under the radar in the area, but do not sleep on this kid! He is going to make some noise this season.
8. Kijuan Rodgers- 5’11 181Ibs/DB,SS/ James Madison High School
Analysis: Kijuan Rodgers has good size and is a solid 180Ibs! He is a ball hawk on the defensive side of the ball. With decent speed running a 4.6 40, he is extremely physical when he tackles opponents. Mr. Rodgers is very good in man coverage and is very good at using his hands to knock the ball away from defenders. He is also able to maintain good gap discipline, or set the edge properly when roaming towards the line of scrimmage. This is a prospect that is just simply a playmaker, and he will be looking to have a superb senior season this upcoming year.
9. Demetrius Hicks- 5’7 165Ibs/DB/ William Taft High School
Analysis: Demetrius Hicks racked up four interceptions, two punt blocks, one forced fumble, and thirty plus tackles. Mr. Hicks possesses excellent ball skills, while having good technique when he is making a tackle. He is definitely a dangerous weapon on special teams which can be a turning point in a ball game! Demetrius has excellent awareness in the ball game which allows him to have very good read and react ability. College coaches, be on the lookout for this kid while he is looking to have a great season!
10. Travion Smith- 6’1 240Ibs/LB/ Samuel Clemens High School
Analysis: Travion Smith is a freight train on defense! He is an extremely hard hitter when tackling with great strength. His gap discipline is like none other, which makes it hard for running backs, quarterbacks, and even receivers to run past him! Mr. Smith takes on blocks very well and sheds them with ease while still making a tackle at the same time. Even though he is undersized for a linebacker, he is 240Ibs solid while playing with a very high motor which is essential at the next level! I would not be surprised when this kid starts rolling in offers! Coaches and scouts, keep your eye out on him as well for the 2022 fall football season and look for him to stand out.
