The 2022 season is an opportunity for the Cyclones to take the next step and go deeper into the playoffs. We are going to take a look at some of the key players on both sides of the ball and give a preview of what can be expected during the 2022 season.
Starting on the offensive side of the ball for the Cyclones. Senior quarterback Gavin Graham will not be an easy quarterback to replace in 2022. Graham threw for 1.462 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Junior quarterback Ben Haulmark Ben Haulmark 6'3" | 230 lbs | ATH Russellville | 2023 State AR and sophomore quarterback D.A. Reed will have an opportunity to earn some snaps this season. Both Haulmark and Reed have the arm strength needed to run the Russellville offense. The quarterback production should not see any drop off and the 2022 season should be a good one for the Russellville signal caller.
The Russellville rushing attack will see several running backs get a chance to tote the ball. In 2021, sophomore running back Tracy Daniels racked up 558 yards on the ground and punched the ball in the end zone eight times. Sophomore running back Mykai Foster rushed for 396 yards and three touchdowns on the season. The mix of youth and experience will serve the Cyclones well as the 2022 season approaches.
Senior wide receiver Trenton Stokes Trenton Stokes 6'3" | 205 lbs | WR Russellville | 2022 State AR will be a tough receiver to replace. Stokes racked up 404 receiving yards and four touchdowns last season. Look for junior wide receiver Alec Boles to see passes thrown his way after amassing 198 yards receiving and one touchdown last season. The Cyclones may also split Ben Haulmark Ben Haulmark 6'3" | 230 lbs | ATH Russellville | 2023 State AR out the wide receiver position. Haulmark has good speed and is dangerous once he gets into the open field. The Cyclones offense has the potential to be a talented group in 2022.
Meanwhile on the defensive side of the ball, Russellville has several players with the potential to have impressive seasons in 2022. Sophomore linebacker Darrian Thomas is a prospect to watch out for this upcoming season. Thomas racked up 71 tackles last season and has the potential for an even stronger season this season. Sophomore defensive end Tristan Whisonat uses his speed well to get into the opposing offenses backfield. Whisonat amassed 23 tackles last season and has the opportunity to earn more snaps this season. The Russellville defense has the potential to be a strong unit in 2022.
