Continue ReadingThe Tight End position is an interesting position and a wildcard position at all levels. They are usually slightly smaller than linemen, but still have the quick feet and good burst of speed and usually the more reliable hands on the team. The size makes it hard for DB’s to cover them, the speed makes it hard for LB’s to cover them so there’s the monkey wrench in the offensive scheme right there. If you can find a TE that has size and can run, catch and block, you’re going to have a really successful offense. Check out the Radar TE’s for ’23.
Colton Ness Colton Ness 6'1" | 190 lbs | TE LaMoure-Litchville-Marion | 2023 State – LaMoure- Litchville/Marion
Ness had the size, speed and hands attributes pretty ironed out. He is quick off the snap and gets out on routes quickly. He runs his routes with both speed and precision, which creates the maximum amount of precision possible. Once he secured the catch, he did a great job accelerating and running away from the defense to finish the play. He had strength to make him very difficult to bring down when he had the ball. He also had great concentration to catch the ball in traffic.
Sam Hindbjorgen Sam Hindbjorgen 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE SF Lincoln | 2023 State – Sioux Falls Lincoln
Hindbjorgen was a versatile power TE. He was used in many different formations and schemes to help the offense move the ball. He had the blocking part of the game down to help spark the run game. He also had quick first steps off the ball and ran good routes to get himself open. He had the hands and the awareness to sit in the open space and make himself a good target for his QB to make a play and move the sticks for the offense.
Logan Arason Logan Arason 6'3" | 245 lbs | TE GF Red River | 2023 State – Grand Forks Red River
Arason was an extra lineman out on the field. On his film, he took pride in usually his size, strength and technique to block for the small-ball game the offense ran. His down blocks really opened the gaps for the perimeter plays and he buried the defenders. On plays he had to block, he went and found the closest defender and made a big block to spring a big play. On plays that broke down, he became a big safety valve for his QB and made himself a good target to keep the offense moving. He also ran routes with precision to gain space from the defense.
