Giblin is a steady defender, in both the run and pass. He doesn’t do much flashy, just does his job and makes the play. He reads run well and fills quickly and makes the sure-handed tackle, however he can square up the ballcarrier. He uses his shoulder pad and wraps up perfectly every time for the perfect form tackle every time. He sits back in pass coverage and keeps good position to either fill on screens, or turn and run deep with the vertical route. He takes good angles to the ballcarrier and gets to the tackle as soon as possible.
Jacob Mayer Jacob Mayer DB Pierre | 2023 State – Pierre TF Riggs
Mayer was a pretty good strong safety looking player. A kid you good play in the box, but could also play really well in pass coverage. He was a really good run-support safety, reading his keys and filling the alley and making a good one-on-one tackles. He gets good pass drops and gets himself in good position to make plays in the pass game. He has good breaks on the ball and makes the play, usually picking the ball off. He has good focus on a high-thrown ball and concentrates well to come down with a tipped pass and securing the ball. He is very good tackling in the open field against a shifty back.
Will Cleveland Will Cleveland 5'10" | 160 lbs | DB McCook Central/Montrose | 2023 State – McCook Central- Montrose
Cleveland was a good athlete and playmaker on both sides of the ball. He was a good field general, finding his way to the ball on each play, whether in the pass or run game. He did a great job keeping his depth in the pass game and staying deeper than any WR running vertical routes. He did a good job high pointing the football and making a play without drawing flags. He fills on run-support really well, and sticks the ballcarrier in the gap and doesn’t give up much for extra yards on his tackles. He fills the alley well and takes on blocks to plug the perimeter runs.
Aiden Heimann Aiden Heimann 5'11" | 155 lbs | DB Aberdeen Central | 2023 State – Aberdeen Central
Heimann may not be the biggest guy out there, but he plays a lot bigger than that. He does a great job sitting in coverage at corner and keeping himself in best position to make a play on the ball, and not get beat deep. He plays through the receiver when the ball is in the air and he isn’t in position to make a play on it. He delivers a big hit on the ballcarrier every time he gets his chance to. He has good recovery speed when he needs to change directions and come up and make a play on a run play. He does a great job wrapping up and finishing the tackle.
Tim Bishop Tim Bishop 6'2" | 170 lbs | DB Harrisburg | 2023 State – Harrisburg
Bishop has some impressive awareness on either zone or man coverage. He can fake coverages very well with his alignment and switch up to play his actual coverage very well. He has good technique in his back-pedal and flips his hips to turn and run very well. He has good speed to keep up with any WR in the man-to-man coverage. He has good break on passes and makes the play on the ball without drawing the flag. He has great peripheral vision, keeping his eye on his guy and the QB at the same time, as well as being completely aware who is in his zone at any given moment. He is also a sure-handed tackler when the ballcarrier gets to him.
