WOW! I didn’t expect this series to gain as much traffic as it did when we launched last week, but here we are. Hundreds of prospects sent in tape last week and I promise we are going to get through them all. Here are a few guys who stood out this edition. Keep your eyes out for more soon!
Kieron Jones Kieron Jones 6'2" | 190 lbs | LB Harrison Central | 2024 State MS | 2024 LB
A linebacker out of Harrison Central, Kieron Jones Kieron Jones 6'2" | 190 lbs | LB Harrison Central | 2024 State MS is a rising star in the 2024 class. Standing at 6’2″ 190, Jones has a great frame for the position and will continue to add mass to his long frame. With his coverage and ball skills, you could argue that Jones is a defensive back playing linebacker. He plays exceptionally well in his curl-flat zones and can break on the ball when it is in the air. Against the run, Jones reads his keys well and knows how to use his length in order to get off blocks. He runs well in space and pursues the ball carrier every snap. Very talented sophomore that should make a name for himself along the camp circuit this spring.
Jalandyn Humphrey | 2023 DL
How this stud defensive lineman doesn’t have more interest as of right now is beyond me. Out of Holmes County, Jalandyn Humphrey is a tall, long, and lean defensive end with the frame that colleges love to see. Humphrey has an explosive first step off the ball and has fluid hips to bend around the edge. As a pass rusher, he is a quarterback’s nightmare. Humphrey has a variety of pass rush moves and uses his length well to get to the quarterback. Against the run, Humphrey can set the edge and take on blockers with ease. Only a matter of time before this guy blows up.
Gabriel Moore | 2023 DL
A 6’5″ defensive end out of Louisville, Gabriel Moore looks like a man among boys on tape. Moore has found his home at the 9-tech and thrives in this position. Against the run, Moore comes off the ball hard and engages with blockers. He uses his length and power to generate separation and bring down the ball carrier with ease. As a pass rusher, Moore has a deadly swim move and can convert some of his speed into a powerful bull rush move. Wherever the ball goes, he goes. Moore has great hustle in the open field and pursues ball carriers until the play is over. Moore currently lists an offer from Southwest Community College, but look for that list to continue to grow soon.
Nicholas Taylor Nicholas Taylor 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR Cleveland Central | 2023 State MS | 2023 WR
A 5’11″ receiver out of Cleveland Central, Nicholas Taylor Nicholas Taylor 5'9" | 160 lbs | WR Cleveland Central | 2023 State MS is a productive player with the ball in his hands. Returning kicks and playing out of the slot, Cleveland Central made sure that the junior was a key part of their offense and special teams units. Taylor has natural control over his body and can make smooth cuts in space. At the line of scrimmage, Taylor has a smooth release and can beat defenders who decide to line up in press coverage. He has soft hands and has shown improvement in his speed over the last year. Looking for him to put his name on the map as the spring progresses.
Dante Kelly | 2023 DB
At 6’3″ 200, Dante Kelly is no ordinary high school safety. At LeFlore County, Kelly plays in the strong safety role, but has impressive ball skills as well. Kelly does a great job in coverage and can read and react to the ball in the air well. He has fluid hips that allow him to transition quickly and great open field speed. When he does play in the box and against the run, Kelly can step up and make big plays. He tackles with aggression and great form, delivering a big blow to the ball carrier. Love his upside and surprised he doesn’t have more going on. Currently lists offers from Southern Miss and multiple local JuCos.
Brady Parkerson | 2024 OL
A 6’4″ 255 lb starter for one of the best teams in Mississippi this past year, Parkerson was not your average sophomore varsity offensive lineman. If there was only one word I could use to describe him, it would be NASTY. Parkerson put up one of the most fun highlight reels to watch this season, routinely crushing and dominating every defender across from him. Parkerson has good bend to him and has above average athleticism for an offensive lineman. The big man can move in space and is great in the screen game or on pulls. He has quick feet in pass protection and a great first punch to the defenders chest. He finishes every snap through the whistle as well. Watch for this guy to continue rising through the ranks this spring.
Trey Naugher | 2023 ATH
A 6’3 WR and outside linebacker combo, Naugher was one of the most well rounded players in the MAIS for Heritage Academy this past season. As a wide out, he caught 63 balls for 1,081 yards and 18 scores. On defense, he totaled 6 sacks, 3 INTs, and 2 forced fumbles. Naugher is all over the field on both sides of the ball. Naugher has great speed in the open field and runs crisp routes as a wide out. He has natural hands and can make some tough contested catches vertically and over the middle. As a defender, he has great eyes and instincts. Naugher knows where the ball is going to be sometimes before it even gets there. He tackles well and has a lot of power behind him. Overall very talented football player that will add recognition this spring.
