These three tight ends showcase huge potential with their athleticism and catching ability. These are three of the biggest stock-risers in Prep Redzone Texas’ Class of 2023 rankings.
1. Hawkins Polley Hawkins Polley 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Stratford | 2023 State TX – Stratford High School (Houston, TX)
2021 Season: 39 receptions, 426 receiving yards, 5 receiving touchdowns
All great tight ends need physicality, excellent route-running, and the ability to be reliable in tough situations. Polley represents all of that and more in his tape. Not only is he physical, but he is also fast and has excellent hands. So much so, he is shown to be able to catch passes with one hand right on the sideline. He has the size and athleticism to make him a dangerous threat in the redzone. Polley has also gotten the attention of many colleges throughout the country. He committed to Baylor in December but also received offers from Buffalo, Houston, Kansas, and SMU.
2. Saimone Davis Saimone Davis 6'4" | 245 lbs | TE Nolan Catholic | 2023 State TX – Nolan Catholic High School (Fort Worth, TX)
Davis also has the strength and physicality down. He is able to make tough catches in traffic and has proven that he is difficult to tackle. On top of that, he also has excellent speed and has proven himself reliable in the redzone. Another key ingredient is a tight end’s ability to block, and Davis also has highlights of this as well showcasing his ability to create pancake blocks and stop defenders in their tracks. He has received multiple offers so far including from Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, and Utah State.
3. Nathan Troxel Nathan Troxel 6'4" | 190 lbs | TE Cypress Park | 2023 State TX – Cypress Park High School (Cypress, TX)
Troxel plays both tight end and defensive end. Given his ability to play both positions just proves the amount of strength that he has. He was shown in his tape multiple times to break through the offensive line. In his offensive tape, he showcased the excellent hands he had and his ability to make tough catches. Troxel is one of those players with multiple skills and talents in various areas. Based on his tape, he makes a great player in both positions.
