Here are some of the top 2023 dual-threat QBs to know in 2022…
Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA – Brookwood
One of the top overall QBs in the country for the 2023 class, Lonergan is a big-armed gunslinger who knows how to take off with his feet. As a passer, he knows how to push the ball deep down the field and is consistently accurate on shorter routes and underneath routes as well. He’s got size, strength, mobility, and one of the strongest arms in the entire class. The multi-sport star has been a major prospect for years now and showed off his big arm and ability to run all season as a junior. Last fall, Lonergan threw for just under 3,400 yards and 32 touchdowns to just two INTs. He also rushed for 645 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground, proving he’s a dynamic prospect with the ability to change the game in many ways. He’ll be able to pick the school of his choice and he’s expected to have another monster season later this fall as a senior.
Malachi Singleton Malachi Singleton 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB North Cobb | 2023 State GA – North Cobb
One of the top 2023 QBs in the South, Singleton was almost almost unstoppable this season, rushing and throwing through defenses all fall. A dynamic, dual-threat QB, Singleton was outstanding as a runner this fall as a junior, rushing for over 870 yards and 22 touchdowns during the regular season. He’s still developing as a passer and growing there, throwing for close to 2,200 yards and 21 touchdowns through the air to just three INTs. He’s improved as a passer and has shown he can beat teams with his arm. He’s going to be tough to handle for any team next season as he continues to develop as a true passer and QB. The potential is easy to see and he took care of the football really well as a junior. His best football is still ahead of him and that’s bad news for 7A teams in Georgia next year.
Owen Brooker Owen Brooker 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Northwest Whitfield | 2023 State GA – Northwest Whitfield
In small-town Tunnel Hill, Owen Brooker Owen Brooker 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Northwest Whitfield | 2023 State GA of Northwest Whitfield (GA) had one of the best seasons of any juniors in North Georgia. The Northwest Georgia native hasn’t burst on the scenes just yet, but the junior proved he can play somewhere at the next level down the road. He’s not the biggest guy, but he makes plays and has confidence in his arm. He’s accurate, has a high football IQ, and led his team to a 13-3 record. As a junior, Brooker threw for over 2,900 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for over 620 yards and 11 touchdowns. Brooker may live in a rural town and may not get the attention he deserves, but he’s absolutely a dual-threat QB to know about.
A breakout 2023 QB in the Atlanta area, the Sandy Creek star is lightning quick when he runs with the ball, but his live arm and ability to make big throws in tight windows helped him have a giant year this past fall. A possible WR/DB prospect at the next level due to his quickness and athleticism, Latimer has proved he can win games with his arm at the high school level, throwing for 2,792 yards and 30 TDs. He hits his receivers in stride and can heave the ball deep when he sees someone open deep down the field. He’s also excellent with the ball in his hands and tough to corral for opposing defenses. On the ground, Latimer rushed for over 450 yards last season and scored 12 times.
