A majority of these players were young prospects who managed to put up great numbers for their high flying offenses, and top performing QB’s. This season, not only do we have high expectations for these players, but we also feel that they will be able to put themselves in a good place to advance their recruitment, while also contributing in the win column for their teams. Below, take a look at some of the top returners from last season’s receiving yards leaders.
Jaden Gibson Jaden Gibson 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Rabun County | 2023 State GA : Rabun County
Gibson, who was not only very impressive for Rabun County last year, managed to lead the entire state in receiving yards. In total, he had over 1,800 yards of receiving last year, while also totaling more than 144 yards a game. In addition to this, Gibson also averaged around 21 yards a reception. Most impressively, Gibson dominated the competition all year, as he totaled 19 TD’s on the season. In 2022, he will likely be a game changer for his team.
Za’Quan Bryan: Benedictine
As a Junior, Bryan was third in the state in receiving yards last year as he managed to rack up 1,376 yards in the span of 15 games. In this 15 game stretch, Bryan also became a key part of his team’s offense, as he also had 15 TD’s by the end of the year. This was largely due to his multiple TD performances in a few games, as well as his stellar averages when catching the ball. Bryan averaged around 91 yards a game last year, while also averaging a little over 14.5 yards a catch.
Malik Leverett Malik Leverett 6'1" | 160 lbs | WR Greenbriar | 2023 GA : Greenbrier
While most fans have not heard of Leverett, his impact for his team in the passing game is undeniable. Last season, during his Junior year, he totaled 1,326 yards by the time the season came to a close. This total put him 4th on the overall receiving yards list, and we have high hopes for him going into the 2022 season. Last year, Leverett caught a total of 8 TD’s, and averaged around 17 yards a reception. What is more impressive than this is his average yards per game, in which he averaged around 132 yards a game.
Bailey Stockton: Prince Avenue Christian
Stockton, who was 6th in total receiving yards in the state of Georgia last year, will be returning in 2022, and will only expect to repeat his success. In 2021, he had a total of 1,271 yards by the end of the year, with 16 TD’s as well. Each game, Stockton also averaged around 90.8 yards, with an average of 15.3 yards a catch. What is impressive about this is that he managed to do so over a 14 game span. We can only hope to see him replicate this success next year, as it will be great for high school football, and for Prince Avenue Christian.
Elijah Dewitt: Prince Avenue Christian
Crazy enough, Stockton was not the only player for his team listed in the top receiving yards category last year. Dewitt, one of his fellow receivers, also wound up on the list, 2 spots down, at 8th overall. This ranking comes with 1,181 yards and 10 total TD’s. Per game, Dewitt put up an average of 84 receiving yards, while also being able to average around 15.3 yards a catch. Next season, alongside Stockton, we would like tot see Dewitt dominate opposing defenses, especially as Aaron Philo is dishing out the football to them.
