The 2023 class is starting to look pretty deep across the offensive line, and there are quite a few from Cobb County that college programs need to have their eye on.
Here are a few Cobb County offensive linemen in the 2023 class who could see their stock rise on the recruiting trail over the next few months…
Ethan Mackenny – OL – Lassiter
You don’t see many two-way players on the line these days, but the junior Trojan has the ability to do so. A big-framed lineman at 6-foot-4 270-pounds, Mackenny is a physical offensive tackle who knows how to drive the defender backwards. He’s long, shows decent footwork, and can overpower smaller edge defenders. He’ll still need to add more weight and mass over the next year or so, but he’s a good-looking young prospect having an excellent junior season. He recently earned an offer from Kansas and holds other offers from App State, Boston College, Louisville, among others.
Ben Galloway – Hillgrove
A promising tackle prospect in Cobb County with size and physicality, Galloway has a nice frame at 6-foot-5 280-pounds and showed he can be an excellent run blocker as a junior. He’s still developing and working on his pass protection, but there’s no doubt that he has the potential to really take his game to another level over the next few months and going into his senior season. He’s long, moves well for his size, and does a nice job of playing with leverage and driving his opponent backwards. He opened up a lot of holes last year and could garner some D1 interest this spring is he can impress in the camp circuit.
RJ Grigsby – North Cobb
An up and coming lineman from Acworth, the North Cobb standout had a big year on the line, anchoring a strong Warriors offense that was one of the best in 7A last fall. Whether he was protecting junior QB Malachi Singleton Malachi Singleton 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB North Cobb | 2023 State GA or opening up holes for him and the backs, Grigsby was able to get the job done all season. Grigsby has plenty of size at 6-foot-5 295-pounds and has enough versatility to play multiple positions along the line. He gets to the 2nd level efficiently and can over power linebackers and smaller defensive linemen once he gets his hands on them. He’s another player who is still developing overall, but the potential is easy to see. Grigsby recently earned an offer from N.C State.
