DE, Gino Mencarini Gino Mencarini 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Rancho Cotate | 2022 State CA Rancho Cotate HS
Mencarini picked up the Defensive Player of the Game Honors for the North team and was causing havoc all afternoon while living in the backfield and applying pressure off the edge. He plays with heavy hands and is extremely physical at the POA while showing impressive block destruction and recorded multiple pressures, a sack and a few TFL’s. Still unsigned, he remains one of the best available North Bay players.
DE, Dominic Roderick Windsor HS
Roderick is a very explosive presence off the edge and along with Mencarini had a big day from his defensive end spot. Displaying a quick first step and quick use of hands when bending the corner, he showed nice closing speed and counter moves while playing with a relentless motor and good physicality. He showed he can play in space and is a very strong tackler.
LB, Cayden Homan Windsor HS
Homan can play both inside and outside linebacker and has a nice balance of size and strength in the box while athletic enough to cover the flats and flip his hips and run. He was all over the field and shows good overall speed in the open field while a very effective blitzer from various different angles and explodes through contact. He also shows good pursuit and a high motor.
DL, George Meisler Montgomery HS
Meisler had a nice day inside from his interior DL position and won at the POA with his first step, speed and natural strength when shooting his hands. Able to play any position on the first two levels, he is a mismatch inside and was very active in the backfield all afternoon.
LB, Diego Davis Vintage HS
Davis had arguably the most dominant defensive performance of the afternoon forcing a fumble on the goal line, having multiple big time stops and proving he can play multiple positions and packing a punch when tackling through ball carriers, especially in the box. He moves very well for his size, triggers quickly and shows natural instincts. He should find his home at inside linebacker in college.
DL, Joseph Reyes Vintage HS
Reyes had at-least one sack and multiple pressures on the day, and was very active in the backfield through out the entire game. He shows impressive first step quickness while able to use his hands effectively while bending the corner and can flip his hips and drive without wasted movement. Although a big undersized, he makes up for it with his motor, closing speed and multi-dimensional pass rush arsenal.
LB, Antonio Bernardini Casa Grande HS
Bernardini is a true plug in the middle of the defense and consistently plugged holes between the tackles and applied pressure when coming off the edge and up the middle. A tackling machine, he has deceptive speed in the short area and can shock and take on blocks while athletic enough to play both inside and out and is a throwback type player.
CB, Nick Beste Cardinal Newman HS
Beste is a nice sized corner that did a good job on the outside while using his length and the sideline as a defender when going up against big and physical receivers. He has good ball skills and can play both press and off while showing nice recovery speed and does a nice job at using his length to recover when trailing.
