Continue ReadingIt is always exciting to take a moment to sit back, and appreciate some of the top talent that floods out of some of the top high school programs on a consistent basis. For years, Langston Hughes has been a very talented school, with prospects that have made it into the next level and beyond. In recent years, they have seen a resurgence in success, especially as plenty of young players have taken them to the playoffs, and shown their fans what winning looks like. In 2022, they will see plenty of returning players with high levels of success, who will likely do wonders for the team. Below, feel free to take a look at some of our favorite returning players on their roster.
Terrance Love Terrance Love 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Langston Hughes | 2023 State GA – FS
Love is most certainly going to make the most out of his senior year next season, as he will not only be as productive as he has always been, but he will be able to inch even closer to a final decision in his recruiting journey. He has not only picked up some impressive offers over the past few years, but we expect that he will gravitate to a program in which he can make an immediate impact. In addition to this, while fans are sad to see him go, he will likely ride out with another successful season, just as he had last year. In 2021 Love had 58 total tackles, and 3 interceptions. This kind of performance helped the team immensely, especially as they had to make key plays. Next season, look for him to finish the right way for his team, giving his all in his last year.
Robert Lockhart- WR
Lockhart will be returning in 2022 and will most likely be one of the leading skilled players for the team. While he is a bit of a smaller prospect, he has the speed, shiftiness, and craftiness on the filed that you look for in a player his size. Lockhart, as part of the explosive offense, while be very complimentary to the ability that Noland has, as he will be able to take the ball and go the distance after the catch.
Prentiss Noland Prentiss Noland 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Langston Hughes | 2024 State GA – QB
Before this season, we foresaw Noland stepping up and becoming an integral part of his team’s offense. This past year, he passed for over 2,500 yards, and 34 TD’s. Because of this performance, he saw more offers flood in, even as a 2024 player. Next season, we anticipate him taking an even bigger step forward in his development, potentially becoming one of the top up-and-coming players in his class. With this being said, Langston Hughes will be returning one of their most vital, but also most talented players that they have on their current roster.
Johnathan Hughley Johnathan Hughley 6'7" | 271 lbs | DL Langston Hughes | 2023 GA – OL
Hughley may not seem to be as much of an important returner to some fans as he truly is, but the truth is that the offensive line will not be as effective next season without him. Not only does Hughley carry his own weight, but he also is a staple to both the running game, and passing game. In 2022, we expect him to continue to develop in his frame, and ability to move at his size, and weight. This development will make him more of an effective player next year, as he will be able to pick up blocks more easily, and more efficiently.
Jelani Thurman- TE
During the 2021 season, Thurman can be viewed to have been one of Noland’s security blankets in the passing game. Good news for Hughes’ fans is that he will be returning for his senior year, and will likely continue to be a huge asset in their offensive production. Outside of being a key player when it comes to blocking, and the running game, Thurman also produced at a high level in the passing game as he totaled over 475 yards, and 7 TD’s. In comparison to other offensive players, he had the third most receiving yards in the entire team. If he can continue to produce at a rate similar to this, we have no doubt that Hughe’s will have a chance to advance even further next season.
