Regardless, a 10-4 record within 7A football in the state of Georgia is nothing to be upset about, as this in itself is an accomplishment. To get to this point, the Rams had to defeat teams with high levels of talent, and star power. Along the way, their run came to an end against Collins Hill, who happened to fall just short of a championship run last year to the Rams. Regardless, we feel that they will be back in the saddle next year, and will be competing at the highest level again. In order to accomplish this, they will need the ability and talent of some of their top returning players that are listed below.
Michael Daugherty Michael Daugherty 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB Grayson | 2023 State GA – S
Daugherty, who was one of the staples to the Rams defense this past season, will be returning for them again in 2022. This will be his final season at Grayson High, and we firmly believe that it will be a good one. Not only did he have a successful season last year, but we anticipate his final season being another good one. At this point of his recruitment, he has picked up a 4 star rating, and has racked up some of the most attractive Power 5 offers that a prospect can receive. This year will be very telling to see where he may land.
Joseph Stone Joseph Stone 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Grayson | 2024 State GA Jr- WR
Not only is Stone one of the more talented receivers on the Ram’s roster, but he was able to contribute a fair amount during his sophomore season. Because of this, we feel that developmentally, this will be a good thing for him in the long run, as he will likely see a more impactful role next season, in which he will likely touch the ball even more. If his offseason training serves him well, he will be one of the better returning players for the Rams, and their fans will begin to see why this is the case within the coming years.
Zion Ferguson- FS
Ferguson, another young DB, could begin to see more playing time next year as he enters into his Junior year. As a young player, he has shown flashes of talent, and the ability to get around the field fluidly when having to react to the ball in the air, as well as ball carriers moving sideline to sideline. He has plenty of growth ahead of him, and we likely see him continuing to play at the Safety position as his ability to move laterally is already decent for his age.
Walt Flynn- OL
Flynn, who is not known to many, will also be returning next season, and will be a big part of his team’s offensive line. Last year, he managed to get his feet wet for the Rams, and has gotten used to blocking for some of their more talented skill players. As a rising Junior, we expect to see more of an impact from Flynn, as he will likely see a development in his talent from year to year, and we believe that if he continues to grow into his frame, and ability, that he can be a star on their line.
