I mean, we have guys all over the state that blow me out of the water when I watch what they’ve done on Friday nights as well as during the offseason. Here are 3 great running backs that stood out to be from the watch list!
Cass Tech RB Shamar Snow Shamar Snow 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Cass Tech | 2023 MI
Snow is an excellent back for Cass Tech, who broke off some big runs against outstanding teams. He’s a fast back that always keeps his feet moving, allowing himself to break some tackles and earn extra yards. He hits the hole with a burst, and he loves to kick his runs out toward the sidelines. Even if you only watch his highlights, the difference between sophomore and junior year is glaring. His stats as a sophomore and junior would be great on any team, but since he’s done what he’s done against Cass Tech’s elite competition, it really raises his stock. He’s improved so much in the past year, and I have no doubt Snow will deal some significant damage in 2022.
Portage Northern RB Xavior Tyus Xavior Tyus 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB Portage Northern | 2023 State MI
Man oh man, Tyus deserves plenty more attention. The “XMan” is quick, powerful, balanced, and overall an elite high school back. I would consider Tyus elite or close to elite in every category. His field vision is incredible, and that is highlighted by great film shown from way above the field. His workouts looks intense, as he’s built like a college back. As far as I can tell he’s visited many schools including Cincinatti, though he hasn’t pick up any offers which is shocking to me.
Mt. Pleasent RB Max Humphrey Max Humphrey 6'1" | 190 lbs | RB Mt. Pleasent | 2023 MI
Humphrey is a running back who’s shown flashes of greatness behind an amazing offensive line. He’s great at being patient at first then exploding through holes, while being able to make small adjustments mid-run to get by guys. He has a nice juke and sports good speed. I wasn’t able to find much tape except for his hudl and his opponents hudl, though I know that with a great offseason he can become even more dominant this coming season.
