Continue ReadingBrookwood High School has potentially one of the most fun, and talented teams in the entire state at their disposal. With this being said, it will be very exciting to see what they can achieve in 2022, and if their top returners can whip up a good season, especially as they have one of the top QB’s in the nation returning for them next year. Either way, it will be fun to see how things shape up, and if their top prospects can develop in ways that we foresee them doing so. Below, take a look at some of their top returners, as they will likely be key parts to any success that they will have next season.
Dylan Lonergan- QB
It should come as no shock to most readers that Dylan Lonergan Dylan Lonergan 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Brookwood | 2023 State GA headlines this list, as he is not only their best player, but he is arguably one of the top players in the entire state, regardless of class. He is one of the most well rounded Quarterbacks in the entire state, as he plays a complete game, from the way he processes and reads the field, to the way that he plays the position and lets the ball lose. Not only is he being recruited by some of the top programs in the entire country, but we feel he has the ability to win a starting job at a Power 5 program, and go on to be a professional player. Lonergan has not only led the Broncos to successful seasons since stepping in as their starter, but we feel that he will finish his career on a high note with them as well.
Malcom McCain- LB
McCain will most definitely be returning as one of the top players on the team next season, and he will continue to lead, and guide his defense to victory just as he has continued to do so over the past few years. Last season, not only did he record an interception, but he also totaled 85 tackles, and 4 sacks. If this isn’t impressing within a 8 game span, we don’t know what is. Next year, we expect him to continue to add on to his gaudy statistics, and make big time plays for his team that helps put them in position to win games.
Bryce Dopson- WR
As the Broncos will look to replace De’Nylon Morrissette De’Nylon Morrissette 6'1" | 200 lbs | WR Brookwood | 2022 State GA , and Stone Bonner next season, Bryce Dopson will be in position to step up for his team and become one of the primary recipients of Lonergan’s passes. This means more first downs, more conversions, and more TD’s. Last season, he had accumulated a total of 184 yards, and 4 TD’s over the season. This season, he will likely take a huge step forward, meaning that his physical development, as well as production ability will likely need to take a jump this offseason. This will help put him in place to be a key playmaker next season, further solidifying that he is one of his team’s top returners.
John Smith- OL
Often times, the big boys do not get as much love as they should, but we have no doubt in our minds that Smith will continue to be a staple to the Bronco’s offensive line next year, just as he did last year as a sophomore. As a Junior, we have confidence that he will take a big step forward in the way he grows into his frame, and is able to translate his strength that he gains in the weight room, to the field. He will likely shoulder a bigger burden in both the passing game, and running game, as he will also be in the spot to step up as a leader for his team. Currently, he sits at 5’11, 236 pounds, but we feel a big offseason will be good for him.
