2023 Rankings Newcomers: Quarterbacks

The Class of 2023 rankings has been published for Prep Redzone Texas. Much like the 2022 rankings, it is time to break it down, starting off with the newest additions to the quarterback position. These five quarterbacks made a name for themselves this past season showcasing their throwing ability, athleticism, and agility. All five of these quarterbacks have a lot of potential going into next year. 1. [player_tooltip player_id="247217" first="Brayden" last="Buchanan"] - Vandegrift High School (Austin, TX) The Vandegrift offense has played fantastically this past season, but at the main stage is Buchanan. He has a lightning arm and can make deep throws with tremendous accuracy. Some of his best passes include ones thrown into the corner of the endzone. He is also athletic, able to throw on the run. On top of it all, he also has excellent awareness even when under pressure. Buchanan has a tremendous amount of talent and potential heading into his senior year next year. 2. [player_tooltip player_id="241706" first="Seth" last="Mouser"] - Bastrop High School (Bastrop, TX) When it comes to having a powerful arm, but also an ability to run the ball with power, Mouser is the quarterback that fits that description. His arm is like a cannon and he has excellent accuracy across the field. However, if pressure is getting to him he is also able to just take off. He has the strength to bounce off of tackles and get more yards. Mouser is athletic to the core and can even juke out defensive backs when the situation arises. 3. [player_tooltip player_id="247218" first="Kaden" last="Anderson"] - Southlake Carroll High School (Southlake, TX) Anderson is also a quarterback who has the athleticism to make a deep throw, on the run, under pressure. On tape, Anderson is easily one of the best quarterbacks out there. He makes deep throws look easy and always times his throws perfectly. Much like Buchanan, he loves to make endzone corner passes look seamless. He seems to always put the ball exactly where it needs to go. Regarding his rushing ability, he is able to take off when necessary and can be deadly in scoring position knowing this fact. 4. [player_tooltip player_id="226441" first="Gavin" last="Rutherford"] - Cinco Ranch High School (Katy, TX) For Rutherford, he makes little to no mistakes. His decision-making skills on the field are fantastic. He also has amazing deep throw accuracy and can put the ball right into the receiver's chest even when they are under tight coverage. On top of that, like all great quarterbacks in this day and age, he can run the ball effectively. Rutherford has all the makings of being an elite quarterback and the hype should be high for him going into his senior season. 5. [player_tooltip player_id="247219" first="Jesse" last="Medina"] - Johnson High School (Buda, TX) Medina is another quarterback that can both throw and run successfully and consistently. Medina is incredibly athletic and can get out of most pressure situations. Not only that but he can effectively throw the ball on the run under said pressure. He has the speed to back himself up and is not afraid to take on the defense in that regard. When throwing, Medina has a cannon of an arm and is not afraid to take deep shots. Like the others listed, Medina has a lot of hype behind him.
